Anybody know of or interested in starting soccer, golf, or other sports for 2-5 yr olds? My son is 3 and I would love to get him started in sports.

WARNING, POLITICALLY INCORRECT POSTING TO FOLLOW:

perhaps 2-5 year olds could replace dwarves in the ever-popular but now politically incorrect sport of dwarf tossing?

I WARNED YOU!!!
(please pardon the sleep deprived preggo this morning!)

My husband can coach soccer for the little ones on the weekend. We just need enough interested parents and kids and then we can start our own soccer team. We have the convenience of the park to accomodate. Let us know.
We have 1 net so far if anyone has any that would be great..we only need 1 more.

Thanks!

My son turns 3 in December. He might enjoy this. I wouldn't expect too much from this age group. They have much more fun things on their minds than kicking a ball.:o)

We have an extra net, too. Of Course, I'd have to tell DW my decison. I'll see what she let's me say.:o)lol.

But, we've been talking about getting him out during the week, too.

You may remember this from the original 85239:

The rich ruleth over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender.

My daughter turns 3 on the first. She is doing Tiny Tots Sports through Parks & rec starting Monday (I think)... if she likes it enough I would be interested in the soccer thing.....

I would think that the 3 year olds could learn the fundamentals and have a ball learning! (no pun intended!) 1 hour a week I think they can handle. There are normally 11 to a team but so far 4 interested...we can start teaching fundamentals when we have at least 8 or so.

worth a try... my daughter does karate, dance, & tiny tots and all are 1/2 hour long.
Would this be after it cools down a bit?

The hour was just a suggestion. We could do 30 or 45 minutes. I was hoping we can start sometime early October and trial run it as long as the kids are interested. If they love it, when they're ready we can play longer and have mini games and see what happens. My son is very shy so we may get out there and he may not even participate the first few times. We never know what to expect!!
If your husband would like to help that would be great!!

My son will be 3 on the 28th of this month and would probably like to play too. We play in the living room now since it is so hot out, and we have a ball. (no pun intended either lol) He is also enrolled in the Tuesday Tiny Tots for the 4-5 year olds. Not sure how well he will do with it, but I heard it was madness no matter how old they are.

This sounds great! My son might be a little young, he's almost 2 1/2, but we'd love to give it a try. He has a great time at tiny tot sports.

We offer programs for this age group right here in town. We offer organized team sports for kids as young as 4 years of age and Tiny Tot Sports for kids 2-5 as well. Starting this winter (re: December), we are going to unveil the following Tiny Tot Sports Programs. We are actively recruiting instructors to increase capacity and we're lowering the price of the programs.

Tiny Tot Football

Tiny Tot Soccer

Tiny Tot T-Ball

Tiny Tot Golf

Tiny Tot Free Play

Our goal is to offer these programs Monday - Friday with a potential Saturday afternoon offering as well. We recognize the popularity of our current program but we've been working on adding more instructors and enhancing the overall experience. Each sport will have as many 3 classes so parents will have choices.

I can also mail you a copy of our Parks and Recreation Guidebook if you send your address to: mmcdonald@cityofmaricopa.net

Thanks,

We start Tiny tots on Monday here and are VERY excited! I do know that there was some irritation on the spots filling up too quickly.

That is awesome Marty! I know it is hard to find daytime instructors, but we will be really excited to get more programs for this age!

Those that want to go to tiny tots is fine although I would much rather do it at a park where it is free. 3 year olds can learn the fundamentals from a few parents until they are old enough to actually play a game. I would still like to start something in early Oct. on a Saturday or Sunday morning whichever is more convenient for the parents. Those that are truly interested, please pm me and we can talk about the schedule.
This is nothing against tiny tots by any means. I just cannot see paying someone else to teach my son what we as parents can have fun teaching our children. What a wonderful weekend quality time for those working parents!

Monika-

No offense taken at all. We're going to add some new wrinkles to the program and re-invent it after a successful 3 year run. The program is set up around the free play structure and is not organized into Team A vs. Team B for the program. Soccer, B-Ball, etc...yes, it is team sports. I hope we can earn your business one day and provide a fun time for your child!

To all interested:
We will be at the big park in Cobblestone Farms by the soccer net Sat. 10/6 at 10:00 am. We hope that you will join us and even if we cannot get soccer started, maybe just make a few new play buddies.
