Does anyone know of anywhere around here where you can just pull off the road and shoot. I know in Utah there were a lot of places like that, but I'm not sure about here. We drove up to the Rim this weekend and did there, but I'm looking for somewhere closer.

If you learn of a safe one, let us all know! One of my fondest memories is going up shooting with my dad at the Mohnton Fish & Game club, but it was a club set up for target shooting, clay pigeon, etc. One of my scariest (not involving crickets) was taking my Jeep with ex & friend on a Martinez Cabin/Box Canyon Run, and seeing a whole crowd of folk firing some pretty heavy artillery right off a well used four-wheeling trail. At the time we had the top off, and I was afraid of losing my head!

You can shoot at the Casa Grande Parks Dep. range. Its free and is about 35 miles away. A few 100 feet south of Rt. 8 on Terkel (spelling?) Rd.

Down 238 to the Sonoran National Monument? There is a lot of brass out there and heard quite a few people shooting while we were there this weekend.

We just came back from shooting near Happy Valley Road. I picked up two bags of trash left by the previous shooter. On the other side of the gulf is a refrigerator that was used as a target along with more trash. i don't have a vehicle that can haul that out of the area.

Come on gang, pack out what you take in. Pick up your spent bullets. Help keep the area clean.

I don't know why I am saying this on the forum, as I know everyone on here makes a point of cleaning up after themselves. I guess I am just frustrated with the trash left behind.

Takingabreak, this is why some of us who live out in the country don't advertise the shooting areas. I know where a bunch of them are, but I'm keeping my big mouth shut. People are absolute pigs -- the areas are littered with tons of junk, spent bullets, and other garbage. It's disgusting.

You are right Sapo, I saw this post a while ago and kept hoping no one would mention the area along Hidden Valley.

We went out there this weekend. It was bad at the amount of trash that was out there. We picked up as much as we could. Each time we go, we will do the same. Hopefully we can all work to keep it clean, as its nice to have a close place to shoot. Nice little set up with the mountain right there.

You shouldn't be surprised Drummer....your lefties leave trash everywhere also. (IE: gay parades, protesting events, woodstock)
I just laugh how one sided you are.
Unfortunately, it's both sides of the spectrum that have no decency and leave trash wherever they go. (Camping, shooting, driving, anywhere!)
It's all about responsible and clean people who clean up after their mess and go further to clean up others like "Takingabreak." I applaud you takingabreak, I too can't stand people leaving their filth everywhere they go.
When my buddies and I found an abandoned tree farm to go paintballing, there was so much trash from people who went to that spot that for about 2 months of hauling junk out in the back of our trucks and cars, we had enough....moved somewhere else to paintball.

Paintballing? Man, that's worse than watching a gay parade.
Nothing funnier than grown men playing GI Joe,though.

This whole forum is filled with one siders. Haven't you noticed? I'm not a flip-flopper

Well, gotta catch a plane to San Fran....
