LOL! I've been a vegetarian for 13 years and I am a female. FYI, there are plenty of wonderful family traditions that don't involve killing. And it's not really a "sport" unless the animal is armed also.
I dont know...they seemed pretty armed when they dive bomb my car on the 347!!!
And besides...my daughter wanted to be vegitarian and she had some questionable blood work reports...found out it was from all the FAKE meat stuff she was eating (Tofu, Veggie burgers and FAKE chicken) dr wanted to do all kinds of test to see WHY she had some kidney issues Until I told hie of her "alternate" lifestyle SO... Hey if you wanna e VegHead I am cool with that but dont be going all PETA on me...Hubby grew up on a dairy /pig farm to him animals are for food!!! NOW if he wanted to shoot Bambi and hang him on my wall...I draw the line! I dont need another set of eyes "looking" at me through out the day | | | |

Due to the small size of doves, most hunters chose only to save only the breast meat. The breasts are meaty and make even servings. Portion size varies, but plan on three to four breasts per person.
To clean a dove for just the breast meat;
1) Hold the bird on its back in one hand. Grasp the outside wing with the other hand and give it a good twist; the wing will snap off. Repeat with the other.
2) Lay the bird again on its back in one hand and poke your free thumb into the body cavity just below and up under the breastbone.
3) All in the same motion, pry the bird apart by moving your two hands apart. A quick jerk will separate the breast from the rest of the bird.
4) Pluck the feathers off the breast or peel off the skin.
5) Wash them thoroughly before freezing.
6) Cook and enjoy.
This is just about what I do to clean them....
Only thing I can see that they left out was looking for shot. Make sure all the shot is removed before you cook or freeze them. | | | |

It takes like 2-3 mins to clean a breast.. Easy. Out in the field, you have to leave one wing on them to Identify the type of dove you dropped.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.
