Alert | The Diamondbacks are the local team. We could care less about your teams from crappier places to live.
Or.. you could always go back there!
There is nothing more annoying than going to a dbacks game and losing my voice because I had to yell back at / boo so much at Cubs/Yankees/Red Sox fans. Please go back to Chicago, New York, or Boston! There are occasionally other teams that require fans being put in their place, but none are anywhere near as consistently a pain as those three.
If I went to those cities and yelled as annoyingly for the Diamondbacks as you do for your teams here I would be lynched. The hypocrisy runs thick.
I was at a Padres vs Diamondbacks game in San Diego two years ago and for 14 innings I got along with the locals by clapping relatively quietly and rooting for my team without screaming, chanting, or being annoying. In fact by the 12th inning we were all getting along pretty well at the hilarious lack of run scoring going on.
I don't know if the Chicago/New York/Boston fans don't understand what subtle is? Or just think being obnoxious is a good thing?

Alert | Wow, being a true fan means that you are a fan no matter where you go or how good or bad the season is.
Of course that could just be my opinion but....

Alert | I would never tell someone to change their allegiances, but I would expect them to tone it down in the opposition's stadium.
For instance, if I brought 5 of my buddies to Dodger Stadium we wouldn't start chanting "LET'S GO DBACKS" at the top of our lungs. We wouldn't scream "NOMAR SUCKS" when he came up to bat.
The worst I've ever seen is the Red Sox fans who actually chanted "DBACKS SUCK" in Arizona. Most of these people live here. With that attitude I encourage them to get the hell out =).

Alert | I am most definitely a home town fan when it comes to the Dbacks, Suns, and Sun Devils. But if any of those teams played my hometown team there would be no question who I root for. I would be heresy for me to cheer for ASU if they played Michigan!!!
I totally understand why it would make local fans get angry but there is nothing that can be done about that with so many transplants here. It will be that way for years to come until the Dbacks are around for 25 years or so and have had a couple generations grow up with them.
It is just the way it is. | | Go Blue!!!!!

I agree with you here on the negative ones, I dont thing anyone should be cheering like that. I would never cheer "Coyotes Suck!!" at a Coyotes/Red Wings game, but on the flip side I see no harm in the "Lets go Red Wings!" chants, as they are not flinging someting negative towards the home team. | | Go Blue!!!!!

Alert | teratya,
Some of my frustration is with the locals who let it happen. There are more dbacks fans here than any other team, and even at Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox games, the Diamondbacks fans are the majority. However, they just act quiet and don't shut them up.
Who are these Coyotes you speak of? Are they that team that plays on that cold stuff I heard of once? =p

Alert | I totally understand mikeb. You are right, I have noticed that as well. Local fans seem to be pretty subdued, but that could be because most recently most of the local teams save for the Suns, and the Dbacks as of late have not been as good as other teams, so the fans of the other teams are a little more rabid. Also those fans of the other teams may only be getting to see their team that one time this year so that would also account for them being more wild.
I can tell you for sure if Michigan came to the Fiesta bowl, I would be a rabid crazy fan for sure.
LOL, love the comment about the Coyotes. hehheh. Yes, that is what I speak of. | | Go Blue!!!!!

Alert | teratya is right, AZ needs more time for the franchise to develop a natural fanbase. Their is way too many transplants here to get all Dbacks, all the time. Look at Chase Field on a nightly basis, they never come close to selling out. Shoot, they could close the upper levels and still come up short. Ive been a Dback fan from the start in 98. Utah doesnt have MLB so I just jumped on when the franchise started. Moved to AZ in May of 2001 and was treated to a WS Championship. The Dbacks are still young, and the more they win, hopefully more fans will come out from behind the shadows. Sad that it works like that, but it is.

Alert | Ha ha ha!!!!! You know what would happen at Yankee Stadium? You'd be drowned out by louder fans!!!!
Why is it rude to cheer enthusiastically for your team when you're at a game? How silly is it to expect people to root for YOUR team? Tell your team to get more fans and TADA, problem solved. | | I loathe people who keep dogs. They are cowards who haven’t got the guts to bite people themselves. ~Sir Geoffrey Streatfield

Alert
| D'Back fans are subdued for three reasons.
1. Average age 81.
2. Medication due to age.
3. They are routing for the D'Backs a team with so much tradition they had to change the uniforms to draw in fans.
Give it a rest. If you don't like Yankee or Red Sox fans then stay home the only time Chase field sells out.

Yes, I am a typical non-D'Back fan. Poor spelling and bad manners abound.

Alert | The D-Backs and especially the Cardinals couldn't exist without the fans from other teams in the house.
My wife and I go to about two or three D-Backs games a year. We go to the games because it is Major League Baseball and not because we are fans of the D-Backs. I am first and foremost a fan of teams from Pittsburgh, i.e., Pirates, Steelers, Pitt Panthers etc. I don't have any afinity for the D-Backs and none for the Cardinals.
The Steelers play the Cardinals in Arizona on September 30th. I'll bet more than half of the stadium will be wearing Black and Gold. I will be.
As far as yelling off-color things in an opponents ball park I think that is rude and stupid in some places, like New York, Philadelphia etc.
In conclusion, we are not going back where we came from and will continue to attend games and root for the team(s) we want to.

You wouldn't cheer for your team if you weren't at home? Heh?
Sports are about the excitement, the rivalry, it's a GAME! Of course people are going to cheer excitedly, even obnoxiously sometimes.

Alert | | Sports would be boring if everyone was rooting for the same team. Fans going at each other in a friendly fashion is half the fun. Its the obnoxious ones that are annoying. I welcome the people that stick to their ex-hometown teams. Things can get ugly sometimes but in the end Ive found that most fans kiss and makeup after a good series or game. | | Pizzaking Wasnt a member 0 posts

Alert | A good fan is a LOUD fan! If you like your team let everyone know about it. AZ has some awesome teams, but they still need to get a football team here. | | Sometimes we just make life to difficult.
