Alert | I have been a Pittsburgh Pirate fan for fifty years. I grew up in Pittsburgh in the 1950s and 1960s and my father (now 92 years old) still lives there. Even though, the Bucs have been on a long losing string (since 1992 when Barry Bonds left Pittsburgh) I am still a fan.
During my Pirate fan lifetime I have seen the Buccos win three World Series titles (1960, 1971, and 1979). I have also seen three Hall of Famers play for my hometown team in Clemente, Mazeroski and Stargell.
I also am now so old (58) that I have seen my team play in three home stadiums (Forbes Field, Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park). In my opinion, (and the opinion of ESPN) PNC Park is the best ballpark in Major League Baseball.
During the Pirates string of losing seasons I have been consoled by the fact that the Cubs last trip to the World Series was the year we bombed Japan, 1945 and the Cubs last World Series Title was in 1908!!! | | | |
