Last nights moon with Pleiades right next to it. Clouds at that time kinda caused a hazy effect

The daytime moon shot is one of those that I could sit and look at all day and not get tired of it. It's beautiful. The detail on the moon is amazing for a daytime shot. Care to divulge what your lens and settings were?

Shot with a Canon 70-200mm F4L lens with a 1.4x converter. So it was basically shot at 280mm F5.6 ISO100 at 1/200sec. Cropped slightly and just some contrast and a little sharpening added with photoshop.

That is one of the lenses on my long-term wish list, but I have to get a lot better before I can justify that. Plus, I have to figure out how long I will have to mortgage my property for in order to pay for it.

Hey, anewman or NukeGM - a stupid photography question: Why do they make the big high-end lenses white instead of black? I always thought that the reason for camera equipment in general being black was to suppress glare.

Canon is I believe the only one that makes white lenses and from what I heard its just so it doesn't absorb as much heat as a black lens would. Is that true or not I am not sure

Couple from today out at Gateway in Mesa.

DD my lens is a F4L and goes for like mid $500's now the F2.8L that ones a lot more and a nicer lens but at the time I could not afford it so I went with the F4L. You can also find a good copy used if you look around for even cheaper. Its a good investment I think. When I switched from a older ES lens to the "L" series I could see the difference in my shots right off the bat.

So many lenses on the wish list and so little cash lol, I want like 4 to 5 more lenses for my arsenal and maybe a extra new body at some point.

I put many hours in on a C-141. Didn't get to see it a whole lot from the outside. Here are some birds of a different type:

WHITE CANON LENSES

http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html

Why are some Canon lenses painted white or silver?

Nearly all large telephoto L series lenses have barrels constructed from solid metal and painted off-white, rather than black plastic or black-painted metal. Canon say they do this since white surfaces absorb less heat than black when used out in the sun, and fluorite crystal lens elements are sensitive to heat - they can expand and contract, altering their optical properties. Of course, the fact that a white-painted Canon lens stands out in the crowd is probably part of the reason as well. Look at any major sports event and you’ll see rows of hefty white lenses. Though to confuse matters Nikon have also begun to sell some lenses in optional white paint.

A few lenses intended to be sold as kit lenses with silver-painted camera bodies have also been available with silver-painted plastic barrels. These include the 35-135 4-5.6 USM (to match the silver-painted commemorative edition of the EOS 10/10s which was released to mark the sale of 60 million Canon cameras), the 24-85 3.5-4.5 USM (to match the APS IX camera) and the 28-90 4-5.6 USM II (to match the Rebel Ti/EOS 300V/Kiss 5). The silver paint on these midrange and low end lenses is purely for cosmetic reasons

You guys just user cheaper glass than Nikon and Zuiko

Firebird Intl Raceway on Sunday. There was also motorcycle races and an infiniti car club race going on the other tracks.

The26th and 27th is another big event with Boat Drags, Monster Trucks, off road trucks, and truck show. Unfortunately I can't go to that one- already have plans.

Nice shots DD & Aaron.

Aaron flying out at Gateway is kinda hit & miss, you never know what will be going on. I do have a friend that is retired and out there almost all the time and if he knows of anything cool coming in he drops me a email. He knows most of the ground crew out there so that helps but only with the fighters. The C17's park at a different part of the field and we never know what their schedule is, just have to have luck getting shots of those landing or taking off.

He told me the night before that those F16's would be in on Sat. I usually show up on or around 2-3pm when the light is getting better and see whats going on. Sometimes there is nothing out there other times you can blow threw mem cards in no time.

Usually there is a good mix of F18's, Harriers, T45's, & F5's. Week days not much happens, its all weekend stuff.
