DH and I are from Reading, PA- about 60 miles outside Philadelphia. PA Amish Dutch Country!
I miss-
- Tastycakes
- Potato chips with these ingredients - potatoes, lard, salt.
- Yuengling Lager Hmmm... beer.
- Sweet lebanon bolonga
- Ring bolonga
- Well made unfinished Amish furniture
- REAL funnel cakes

i am from wilkes-barre, pa. I also miss all of those things, as well as

* A wooded creek thats cool and dark with the lush forest above.
* middleswarth chips!
* Nardones pizza
* pizza parlors that make REAL pizza, not some dough with tomatoe sauce on it
* cheap real estate!
* weekend trips to wildwood
* kielbasa
* cheese steaks, not these "phillys" they make here
* sheetz!
* Steamtown
* the blissful ignorance of living in a small town with no crime but still having NYC and philly within 2 hours for the big city things you need

Things i don't miss:

* low paying jobs
* oppressive vehicle code
* oppressive police enforcement of said vehicle code
* Annual inspections
* RUST!
* no where to 4 wheel legally
* lack of jamba juice

actually planning to build a house back there in about 2 days...

Follow your bliss. Happiness is a conscious decision

the food

the great outdoors - the beach, hiking, ponds, sanctuaries
the people
the small town feel

it's a broad list I know...but if I was more detailed it would be a loong list!

I'm from Strasburg, PA...in Lancaster County...home of the Amish!

I miss Tastycakes, whoopie pies, shoo fly pie, friends and family, and the tourists who come to gawk at the Amish. Seriously, they were always funny to watch.

I'm from Illinois, there really isn't anything I miss.

I don't miss the following:
*farms
*endless cornfields
*black ice
*fat, corn fed women

Just the good ol' boys,
Never meanin' no harm,
Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Straight'nin' the curve,
Flat'nin' the hills.
Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.

Makin' their way,
The only way they know how,
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Just good ol' boys,
Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

So Indiana. I don't miss much, I hate it there, but I do love the smell of freshly cut grass that seems to eminate from everywhere. I also miss fall foliage. I also miss all of the Germans, they celebrate everything with beer gardens and cheap booze all summer long!

San diego California.

I miss the family
the beach,
The downtown area
Hanging out at El toritos in the Valley..(25 years hangout there)
The sunsets on the Beach.
Concerts at Humphrey's by the bay.
Eating dinner at places that over look the ocean.

So much more.... Too much more to list.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Ukiah (Mendocino County), CA.

I miss the 100 foot tall Redwood tree we had in our backyard, and I miss the Mendocino coast. But mostly, I miss my boys who all chose to stay in CA.

My husband and I are originally from L.A., CA but we moved here from the bay area, where my son was born. I don’t miss anything about Northern CA, and the only thing I miss about L.A. is my friends. I love it here in Maricopa.

I grew up in Northport New York.
REAL NY Pizza
A Jewish deli with all the stuff: bagels, knishes, sandwichs, pickles from the barrel!
Chinese Food
Charlie Chips delivered at home
Italian Ices from the ice cream truck
Carvel Ice Cream stores
Entennmanns Bakery thrift store in Bay Shore

Why is it everything I miss is FOOD?

OK - I miss experiencing the four seasons, fishing from the pier, camping in the Hamptons (before it became "The Hamptons", going to the beach

New Jersey

I miss the sight of " lightning bugs" ( aka fire flies ) and the change of seasons from fall to winter. The different colors on the trees.

Bay Area, Ca.

I miss the sight of the fog rolling over the mountains from the pacific ocean and entering the bay through the Golden Gate Bridge. The sounds of seagulls, the smell of ocean water. The sounds of waves crashing onto the rocks and shoreline. The taste of good Itallian & Chinese food.

I'm from Rochester, NY and I miss my daughters (one in grad school the other undergrad), the smell of lilacs, Zwiegels hot dogs, neighbors who actually stop and chat (not just drive in the garage and close the door without so much as a wave ; and my 3 best girl friends in the whole wide world!

Adversity does not build character - it reveals it.

Wow, so many from the Coastal areas.
I am from beautiful wonderful Flagstaff, Arizona.

I miss the NAU campus, Pinon picking, driving across town in 10 minutes, the seasons, and family!

I dont miss shoveling the snow or scrapping my windshield, or the high cost of living, and I dont miss some of that family!

Please tell me, is one of my dearest friends (I won't mention her name) truly daffy, or does one of your colleges back there have a fight song involving ring bologna?
