Alert | | It would be nice if this site had a photos section where users could post photos of current photos rather that having them hosted on an alternate site and using pointers. Does anyone know how we make suggestions for this? | | All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. --Edmund Burke

Alert | | I agree. As an amateur photographer, it would be a lot easier to have local photos. I would start by talking to Carolyn and see if there are storage restrictions or some other reason why this wouldn't work. | | Stupid should hurt!

Alert | I imagine there are issues with storage. Photos take up a considerable amount of space especially given the 6-10 megapixel cameras people are using today.
Seeing how people already abuse threads with stupid comments I am sure the same would happen with photos. Storage would fill up quickly and the whole system would bog down.
DD and Myself use Smugmug which is fairly inexspensive when you consider the features and storage space.
I have asked for a Travel/Destination category to post local photos and travel destinations in Arizona- but that has not been added as of yet. | | "The jouney of life is as much in oneself' as the roads one travels"

Alert | | Wow you take some really good photos... I did have a photos.yahoo.com account but they are shutting that down for flixr or something like that. They had a systems that compressed your photos. I dunno maybe its worth some looking into. | | All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. --Edmund Burke

Alert | | i agree, there should be a photo section, can't we set it up to use HTML? or whatever code we use to post pix rather than have it uploaded from 85239 server? | | i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. TAKE IT OFF!!!

Alert | If you mean the close up photo (macro shot), I use a Canon 400D Digital SLR with a 70-300 telephoto/macro lens. It's just a little more pricey than your basic point and shoot SLR.
If you mean how to post it in a message, you have to have it somewhere on the web. You use the code:
img src='http://www.85239.com/this is where my photo is' and use a < at the beginning and a > at the end. Substitute the URL of your picture between the quotes. If it wasn't easy, I couldn't do it
Edited to correct my bonehead error in putting the actual line of code in the example. | | Stupid should hurt!

Whoops!! HAHA!!
Code: (put this all in one line)
< img src = ' ' >
in between the ' ' you put the URL of the picture
Like so:
URL is http://www.smugmug.com/photos/99647673-M-1.jpg
Use code and you get

Photo is Rancho El Dorado entrance
Just try it and you will get the hang of it. Your photos must be on a webbased storage site though. Yahoo, Shutterbug, etc.

Alert | | the bad part is if the link you're using gets taken off, then your pix will not display, UNLESS! you open an account, lets say Photobucket or wherever they let you save files, and you link your photo from your account........if that made any sense. | | i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. Good gracious! With this post, I am left with no choice but to find you guilty of Posting While Talented. PWT is an incredibly serious charge! In fact, the aforementioned photograph is so abundantly gorgeous that I must henceforth add the special circumstance of Utilizing Inappropriate Talent on an Open Forum. This is a very upsetting day in this courtroom.
As such, I must verily dispense justice. In the Court's best effort to bludgeon your incredible talent with the dull weapon of stupidity, I hereby sentence you to read and examine no fewer than seven (7) Marmaduke cartoons. In addition, you are hereby instructed to watch four (4) Mentos commercials, one (1) of which shall be the one where the Swedish Construction Foremen assist the Swedish Damsel in Distress by picking her automobile up out of the parking space and gently relocating it into the street. Furthermore, you are prohibited from viewing, reading, or otherwise observing any works of Ansel Adams for a period of time greater than eighteen (18) but not to exceed eighty (80) days. If sufficient dumbing down of your photographic talent is shown to this Court, the latter sentence shall henceforth be commuted. The Court hopes you have learned your lesson, noble constituent!
*bang, bang*
Court is adjourned! | | | |
