Alert | | Well put Gilaguy and NorCal Girl. The total lack of action by the City, Fire and Police Departments just adds to the whole incident. I was stunned to see when i went to the city of Maricopa web page that they still had on the front page a smiling picture of the mayor standing between the head of the fire and police department. It almost shows me how clueless our city government is to the anger and disappointment of the people over this whole story.

Alert | Darn CJ:
"I hope you all happy with the City's outcome with this forum which ended up going way to far. It is sad really sad that you can manipulate City government with a web page. God help us all."
Just darn. There really was an incident involving city employees. (There really is a report on this) Beyond that, are we, as citizens, not supposed to exprees our feelings? If people are upset wiith something, are we not REQUIRED to stand up and say something? If the local government is upset with anything that has been said, We should change it. AS VOTING CITIZENS, WE HAVE OBLIGATION TO TELL LOCAL OFFICIALS WHAY WE ARE UPSET. Our officials represent US. It does work the other way around.
Tea anyone? Oh, wait, that was another day where we spoke our minds. | | Let X=X

Alert | Thank you demonica and ravensnest! Those were very nice comments.
CJL, I'm not sure where you are getting the notion that anyone here is "manipulating" anything. As stated before, this was an actual event. It did, in fact, take place. And it did, in fact, occur as has been stated here. There is no misrepresentation of the incident, and there is no embellishment. (Frankly, this incident is so bizarre that any embellishment would only create further disbelief.)
As Mallard stated before, if discussing a problem and clamoring for a solution is "manipulating" government, then I will eat my Colonial hat. I think we all would have been happier if this event had never happened, or failing that, if the City had taken swift and appropriate action immediately, or failing THAT, if the City had allowed the Fire Chief to take whatever personnel measures he felt appropriate. As opposed to seemingly trying to sweep this incident under the rug, overruling the Fire Chief, smiling, and nodding their heads silently while the story broke elsewhere. Clearly, if there was ever any attempt to manipulate this event, it did not take place here.
