I have read your posts and seem to wonder why you get frustrated. This is a silly forum. Don't get so frustrated by some of the posts. I have learned my lesson.

In reality, there is a group of about 15 people or so that enjoy complaining or enjoy trashing our city, our schools, our roads, our restaurants, our real estate, our police, our firefighters, our city employees, our churches, our gang problem, etc...

I would feel badly for any person that moves to Maricopa, reads this forum, and misses the great things that this city has to offer and the great steps that have been made since incorporation. Yes, there have been mistakes at every level---just like every other city.

I personally would like to thank city management, police, firefighters, business owners, etc.. I know it is a learning process and probably stressfull at times, but 99% of the city is behind you....do not worry about the 500 or so people that read this forum and the 15 or so that need to find a negative everywhere.

I would agree, we have made great strides as a city, but I do not think we should be blinded by our success. I too would feel badly for anyone looking at moving here and decides not to just by a few problems. All cities have their problems but that does not mean that we have to ignore them.

Amen, never criticize the government, only terrorists do that.

Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. They proceed by strict logic, eliminating any appeal to the emotions. Socialism, on the contrary, works on the emotions, tries to violate logical considerations by rousing a sense of personal interest and to stifle the voice of reason by awakening primitive instincts.

Yep, the punch people in the face and run...

Just the good ol' boys,
Never meanin' no harm,
Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Straight'nin' the curve,
Flat'nin' the hills.
Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.

Makin' their way,
The only way they know how,
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Just good ol' boys,
Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Posts on the fourm? Some of it is complaining. Some of it is viable discourse. Many of the incidents that are being discussed would not have even come to light had they not first been discussed on this forum. Make no mistake: the newspapers, the city council, city staff, and various other entities all read this forum. Sometimes there's immediate influence on city government, i.e., the reversal of the deal on the Peed property, versus having to wait until an election to voice one's opinion.

Sometimes going to the source is the most expedient method of effecting change. Other times discussing it with a few dozen other people in a public forum is the best way to get a good political outcome.

Very well said, sir. And if I might add one point, I think it is important to note that nobody here is "trashing" anything. There is much more to love about Maricopa than there is to distrust or find unpalatable. That much is abundantly clear for all those who live, work, or visit here. Discussing problems as they crop up, and attempting to find solutions for them, is not "trashing" this town or any part of it. It is merely engaging in the sort of democratic discourse that our great nation permits and encourages.

As has been stated elsewhere, there are plenty of towns out there which are content to ignore their troubles or sweep them under the rug. Doing that solves nothing, it merely puts lipstick on a pig.

I may not necessarily agree with those who post their dissent, or those who find problems with parts of this town...but I will persistently defend their right to voice it rationally.

it's funny how can easily be po'ed by comments here. i take with a grain of salt when visiting here; otherwise, it's all humor to me.

edit: actually, like the how-to info., there's alot of info. that's very useful.

i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. TAKE IT OFF!!!

DD & GG have stated very well what I believe about discourse on this forum. I would add that if we didn't care about this town we wouldn't care to raise issues. We would just leave.

I know for a fact that many of the "complainers" are very active not only on this forum but in the city at large. Involved in committees, commissions and other endeavors to improve our city. We don’t sit on our butts just typing away on a keyboard. We are also not anonymous. Many folks including those at city hall know very well who we are.

Bottom line…you can’t make change without participating.

Dang.......

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.
