There are HUGE tumbleweeds behind my home in vacant lots that won't be built on for a long time.

What do we do about this? ? ?  Who do we call?

I attempted to take care of a "few" of them myself and it's useless.  There are hundreds and they are BIG!  Once they die off they will be flying all over the place, my yard, my pool, etc...

HELP!

And they won't only be blowing into your yard and pool, they'll be flying all over the neighborhood, scattering fast growing seeds as they go. This is where most of the weeds come from - homebuilder's empty lots and land that the HOAs should be maintaining but don't (behind the houses on Casa Grande Highway).

I would contact the builder and ask them to clean up their empty lots. If that fails, I would contact the HOA. They're good at sending out unwarranted notices, so this is something bona fide and should be right up their alley. Just because a house hasn't been built on the lot yet, doesn't mean that the builder should not maintain it.

I'm on the last road of Tortosa...they have ceased building homes behind us . ..

When I look out my back window all I see is a sea of green...that's goes as far back as the testing grounds..eventually they will dry out and do what tumbleweeds do... tumble.....what scares me is that they will become a fire hazard...

A HUGE fire hazard. If they are on homebuilders' lots, they should have to clean the weeds. If nothing happens, call Pinal County and let them handle it.

Give them time, it takes a while to copy and paste the same thread all over a message board.

If you don't like desert flora and fauna perhaps you should consider leaving the desert.

Don't expect any HOA to solve the problems of weeds any where. If there is no money to be made then the HOA does not want to do any thing about it. I was told by my HOA that they cannot go on to some ones property and have the weeds removed even though it states just that in the CCR's. The real problem there is the HOA has to out lay cash and then try to get it back from the owner of the property. HOA's are just a money pit. You pay them and they give you nothing in return.

Some one owns that property and whom ever it is, is responsible for keeping it cleared of weeds so that it is not a fire hazard.  You should contact the city so they can contact the responsible party to take care of the problem.  If it is not taken care of, keep calling the city.  They may have to clean it up themselves and then bill the owner.  You might also want to call the fire department and tell them of your concerns.  It is a lot cheaper to clear the weeds than to fight a fire that might start there and the city knows it.

The HOA the only time I know them is when I get my bill. Than if you talk to one call the one guy at city of Maricopa and see what they can do.

I'm sorry, I pay you, YOU should be doing your job pick the phone up and do business.

Why should this be a city problem, we pay the HOA?

I appreciate the feedback Vinny- You are a hell of a guy!

I failed to mention. This is the area "once" owned by Engle, before they abandoned the unfinished lots out here in the Villages.

I'll reach out to the HOA to see what they are all about. I"m willing to pony up my own dime to have it cleaned up before things get completely out of hand.
