Hello Everyone.........

My family and I have been going back and forth whether we should foster or not......of course my heart wants to and then I hear the horrible stories families go through.........I have 2-children of my own who I have to protect and think of before making this decision.........Just curious if any of you have experience in fostering or know someone who has.......

Would love to hear any stories or experience………

GOD Bless you s_fogle27!!  I takes a very special kind of person to be faoster parents.  I have not had the pleasure of fostering yet.  I have known a lot of people who have, and it is truly a blessing.  Is it hard? Yes! But so is being a parent.  You have an oppurtunity to be a miracle in a child's life.  You would be able to show them love and understanding, where some of these poor children have felt none.

I really comend you for making this decision.  I wish someday I am able to follow in your footsteps.  I too have children of my own, and my oldest son has ADD and some learning disabilties.  I feel that it would not be the right time for our family to foster just yet.  Plus, I need some time to prepare my heart and soul for something like that.

Hi, I am a foster parent. I recently dropped my license from DDD (disabled children) to regular foster care. With disabled children you will mostly get children that have very high behavioral problems more so than children with medical disabilities. I do not recommend that for a family with other children in the home. Regular ACYF foster is the best way to go. I love it, and we are able to provide a home to kids that would have to be in a shelter or group home otherwise. Whatever you do, watch the age of the children that you are considering and ask questions before saying yes to any child because you do not want to have to say NO after inviting them into your home and giving them false hope - seen it to many times. They end up feeling like they can be tossed out like the daily trash. Just be sure that you will be able to care for them for the entire length of time they will be in the system or until another family can adopt them. These kids can also teach your children the true meaning of unconditional love and respect, because most of them have not had much given to them in there lives and tend to show great appreciation for very small things.

Life without kids, is no life at all!

Foster or Adopt a child, and you will know what your CALLING is....
