I just glanced through the Arizona Republic this morning and in one section I found two articles that showed Maricopa in a very negative light! The first was about the fact that the HOA at the villages is about to go bankrupt because 20% of the good citizens of Maricopa don't pay their homeowners fees. The next was a beautiful picture of shopping bags stuck in the fence outside of town. Did AZ Republic just pay a visit here this week, or is this negative reporting about our town common-place?

well...considering the source...the arizona REPUGNENT...they have lost so many subscriptions...i would not worry nor care what they are saying about this town....we will be just fine no matter what those morons decide to print

This had to do with not being able to pay the bills which was a quote from our HOA president. This is what the discussion should be about, not Maricopa in general.

The bailout is wrong. We should not do it. My God this is the stupidest idea ever. Bush is stupid if he signs this. But he has done other stupid things

Negativity is in the eye of the beholder. Unless someone can show that the story about homeowners not paying their HOA dues was false or that the photo was staged, it sounds like fair game to me. News is meant to bring information to the readers. Now that the information is out there, maybe someone will clean up the plastic bags and someone will start paying their HOA dues. Would you rather that the media sweep things under the carpet unless it can be read with rosy glasses? If that is what you want, start reading some government-controlled media in countries where journalists have to risk their lives to get the truth to their readers, or be satisfied with writing drivel. What is more imporant ... truth or reputation???? Sheez

i dont think we have a good rep. Every time i tell someone i live here they look at me as if there sorry for me and then i get asked why? lol also the last few people ive told there like omg they have such a bad gang problem there! kinda of sucks to think people think this is that bad of a hole especially when im from detroit so im kinda of used to it but still sucks

There are a lot of misconceptions of Maricopa. Just about everyone I tell is like, "Why, that's so far? Why didn't you just move to Casa Grande or Queen Creek?" The majority of people don't know how close we are to Tempe and Chandler, and that we really are closer.
