 Alert | At 7am on June 17, we found a Western Diamondback rattlesnake in our driveway, and then it went into our garage. We called the fire department, and they came right away to take care of it. I heard it before I saw it. It was only about 3 feet long - a pretty young one - and very aggressive. Keep an eye and ear out - especially with pets and children. This species of snake may attack unprovoked, and they can be very territorial and stubborn. We live in Maricopa Meadows, but I imagine they might appear in other neighborhoods as well. | | | |

And, hendersona, yes we live in a desert. Yes, there are snakes and I'm cool with that. However, this particular species is one of the deadliest in the world, and I'd hate for some pet or child to get bit because we weren't prepared. | | | |

Alert | | I have a retention lot next to my house and we had a 4 foot rattle snake in there where the kids play ball a lot. i didnt kill it because as much harm as they can cause they also eat rodents and bugs. I picked it up and carried it back to the farmers land and let it go. The farmer behing the Meadows is growing his feed corn and expect a lot more snakes when the crop is full grown and he cuts it down for harvest. | | | |

Alert | All rattlesnakes are born with out ratlles. They don't develop ratles until they begin shedding their skin as they grow. Nothing new or strange about this.
I hate snakes with the fire of a thousand suns, but I ain't never met one that could stand up to a well placed shovel blade or a load of snake shot from my .44  | |

dont live in town, rather off of I8 in BFE, 14 miles sw of Hidden Valley on the way to Gila Bend | |

Alert | | Word of caution...once I chopped a rattler almost in same place and before he died he squirmed around with only head and long neck and bit the severed part of his body. weird. takes a while for them to expire. | |

Alert | | We have lived here since 2006, and have yet to see any snakes. My husband says he saw a scorpion last year, that prompted the exterminator. We live in the Villages, and our backyard faces the empty dirt lot next to Fry's. I thought for sure when they started to develop it, we would see an abundance of creepy crawlies. nifty work...word to the wise...even after beheaded, they can still bite...sounds like something out of freak show but a mountain biking friend of mine found out the hard way and almost like a dying wish from the snake...unloaded an unusually large amount of venom that messed up my buddy for over a week. Watching Jeff Corwin is one thing but I wouldn't want my kids around this...that's for sure. The youngest have been known to bite repeatedly within this family of the rattler.
