Hey All! It is that time of year again! If you would like to purchase or renew your flag service with the Boys Scouts please call 568-4611. The cost is $50 for one years service. A PVC pipe will be placed in your yard and on 8 holidays through the next year local Boy Scouts will come and place a flag in your yard early in the morning and remove it before dark. When you order we will arrange for a check to be picked up. The next date for flags to be displayed is the Fourth of July! The proceeds from the sales of these services benefit the Boys Scouts, specifically helping for them to pay to go to Camp Geronimo this summer. You can call 568-4611 or email wreshaz@aol.com Thanks!

Hi Boymaker! It has been awhile! I should not have assumed everyone knows what the flag service is! The flag service is offered by Boy Scout Troup #977 here in Maricopa. When you pay the $50 to subscribe a Scout will come to your home and insert a small piece of PVC pipe into your yard that fits a flag pole. On 6 set holidays the Scouts will arrive at your home to place a flag in your yard in the PVC pipe. Before sunset the Scouts will come and remove the flag. You may have neighbors that have this service already. If you noticed flags in your neighbors yards near the sidewalk on Memorial Day or Flag Day last week those were from the Scouts. *UPDATE* Because I am receiving this information from my teenage son it was not accurate the first time. Those of you with teenage sons understand, I am sure! It is 6 holidays, not 8. The cycle for the flags ends with Presidents Day in 2009. There are only 4 more holidays left in this cycle. The price has been discounted to $40 for the remaining 4 holidays. The remainining holidays for this cycle are: Fourth of July Patriots Day (9/11) Veterans Day (11/11) Presidents Day (Feb 09) Because Troup 977 will be at Scout Camp on The Fourth of July this year the flags will be delivered to you early for you to put out on the 4th and picked up when the Scouts return from camp. If you decide to renew in Feb 09 you can resubscribe for a year and the additional holidays included are Memorial Day and Flag Day. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for your support!
