Alert | In my neighborhood dogs bark all night, I can't believe it, they bark and bark and bark for no reason!!! I try and go over and knock on their door but NO one answers. What can you do, I need to ware earplugs just so I can sleep. I don't understand how pet owners can let this happen. | | The bailout is wrong. We should not do it. My God this is the stupidest idea ever. Bush is stupid if he signs this. But he has done other stupid things

Alert | I agree with you on the barking dog issue. We have dogs that bark early (like 4am early) in the morning and sometimes all day long. I'm a hard sleeper, so I can usually sleep through the barking, but I know some of the other neighbors have been complaining. I say, if you can't get ahold of the owners in a reasonable amount of time, call your HOA and file a complaint. Or you can go to their house and keep ringing their door bell once you hear the dog barking (like 2am) and wake them up...hey, what's good for the goose is good for the gander! I'm originally from Illinois and I know that people out there are not tollerable to that kind of stuff and you can call the police and let them take care of it, and if it continues and they have to make a second trip...they get a hefty fine. Not sure how it works here.

Alert | | It's not an HOA issue. It's a Police issue. Call the Police. BUT, only if you're willing to follow through, fill out a witness statement, be a willing victim, and go to court to testify about how the dog disturbed your sleep. Calling the Police and making "anonymous complaints" infuriates me. But, if the dog is barking, you are taking proactive steps to resolve the issue yourself, and the dog'sowner wont play nice....then call the Police. A citation, and I guarantee you'll get some better sleep.

Alert | | I also do not understand how people can let their pets bark non stop. I have two small dogs, and I will admit that there are times that my dachshund will bark for no reason. It bugs the crap out of me when she does this. I am very considerate of my neighbors so I make sure that they are not barking all day long and at 9 sharp they are in their kennel. I am always telling my one barker to be quiet, plus they are not outside all day or night long.

Alert | I'm not sure which HOA they have, but in Ogden's (our HOA in Senita) it is a HOA issue. We received a flyer from Ogden regarding dogs barking as well as other common issues. I do think that at times, our money is going to waste with our HOA because they lag on responding to complaints...our block looks like a used car sales lot and not much is being done about it, so the police may be the way to go...but I'm not sure that courts would even hear a case such as that. Maybe Judge Judy

Alert | Telling your HOA about a barking dog will accomplish nothing, except for a paper trail of wasted letters. Calling the Police, IF YOU ARE willing to aid in prosecution will result in a citation and a court date for the offender. Parked cars on the street of Senita is also not an HOA issue. Senita HOA does not own the streets (Like Province does) and therefor cannot enforce any parking regulations. The city is working on a "parking ordinance," but as of yet, does not have one. (That's what I was told yesterday.)

Alert | We were told that we have to keep a barking log before the county Animal Control can do anything. And we were referred to them by the Police.
Parked cars on the street of Senita is also not an HOA issue.

I also do not understand how people can let their pets bark non stop. They use it as "white noise" to block the sound of the train. | | Need a tax write off? Donate to the Maricopa SALVATION ARMY EMERGENCY SERVICES FUND.

Alert | Hmmm...the only reason I thought parking in the streets was an HOA issue was because my neighbor across the street got a tow sticker on his car. He told me that it was from the HOA. I know when I looked through the HOA paperwork they did mention on their that you aren't supposed to park in the street overnight. They actually tell you in there that you are supposed to park (1st) in the garage then in the driveway...and only short term parking in the street. And when we had part of our driveway redone we had to call the HOA and tell Kriss our make and model of car along with plate numbers and how many days it was in the street so we didn't receive a violation. I love the way we get told different things....frustrating.

Alert | The police will ticket a car/truck that does not move from parking on the street for more than 72 hours. We do not have an overnight parking ban on city streets at this time. The HOA can have rules but can not tow you, can fine you if you park in front of your house without a short term letter of approval from them | | "What me worry"

Alert | Correct.....the HOA can not tow but can send violation letter and/or fines based on your individual fine policy for your community. That is of course if your governing documents state that there is no parking on the street. Unless the community manager drives around in the evening to catch people parking the only way that violation letters and/or fines can be sent out if is someone is willing to file a complaint. As for the barking dog(s) it is also correct that unfortunately it is not an HOA issue. That is a homeowner to homeowner issue. You can contact the Code Enforcement agency (Brian Duncan) and/or the Animal Control Department for the county. If they becomes verified complaints it will be forwarded to the courts for compliance. But please remember that it is a slow process. Unfortunately our government doesn't do anything quickly and can be frustrating. Alert | Sometimes its a good bark.....(but not all night long)......take for example the other night when our two dogs ran outside to bark ....come to find out a group of kids were walking the streets, who fled when I turned on the porch light- Next morning on my way out to the car I noticed down the street that a house had be TP'd....who knows could have been them, could have not-
So I dont disagree with you because even as an dog owner it annoys me when they bark but I do have to stick up for my kids and say that there are times when their bark comes in handy

Alert | Our HOA has guidelines for barking dogs and overnight parking on the street. Because the one night our management could do the checking on overnight parking, the offenders would keep them off the street for that night. Well, we now have an outside firm that will also check RANDOMLY also during the week. And yes, the HOA can have the cars towed. As for continually barking dogs. it can be a real headache. But calling the police is not a bad thing. Look at what happened this week after several of complaints to the police about a certain house with barking dogs. Turns out he was raising pitbulls for fighting. Also, they found illegal guns and ammution in his garage. I would call any and everyone until it is addressed; HOA, police, Animal Control, whatever it takes.

This was in Phoenix and I am sure enforcement and penalties vary from one jurisdiction to another. My case came from an ongoing dispute with the neighbor, he was upset because my dogs would bark and awake him whenever his F'N'CAT walked the block fence between our homes!!! He refused to bring his cat in at night, so I refused to bring my dogs in as well. I went to court to plead my case and was told that there was nothing in the books in regards to cats being allowed to run free 24/7!!!! Oh yeah, it didn't help that the jerkoff was one of Bruce Babbit's cronies working for the Department of the Interior at the time!!!!!

Alert | | Sunday morning my neighbor's big dog woke me and the baby up around 5:45am. I went outside and threw a rock over the fence each time he would bark. It scared him for a little while. Next time I'm going to stand on the trampoline and AIM the rocks at him. | | Despite All My Rage I Am Still Just A Rat In A Cage

Alert | | I know you can not have a car towed that does not belong to you if it is parked legally ie. city and state laws not HOA rules. this also applies to HOA's. I know this because my dad use to own a tow truck company. If we did not get proof of ownership we could be charged with theft. I know the only ones that can have a car towed like that are law enfocment agencies and still it has to be parked illegally according to the city and state laws. Also no one has challenaged the parking rules in the CCR's yet. You can put any thing into a contract you want but if it is either illegal or unconstitutional then it will not stand up in a court of law.

Alert | Do you live in RED? I have a neighbor who has 2 labs that bark all day long. I've seen people go to her door, no answer, leave notes, yell SHUT UP over the fence. My bedroom window is maybe 10 feet from their outside cage..
She doesn't talk to us anymore cause she thinks her little dogs dont bark and we are the only ones leaving notes on her door.. She is NEVER home no wonder they leave notes.
I want to buy a bark bark sensor that shoots a high pitch noise at the dog. I am going to mount it to MY HOUSE and point it at hers... no better yet.. I am going to have her buy it..
