I see no problem with our council getting a stipend to work for our community. To expect them to do the work for free is something that I would disagree with. After all, it does take time to do the job right.

As far as the health insurance is concerned, this is a benefit that the council has had for years, just like the city staff members have. The current, outgoing council voted to keep it as a council benefit for next fiscal year. I do not know if they voted to continue with the same arrangement, which is that the insurance is available at NO cost to the council members. I also do not know if the outgoing council voted to do the same for the employees. That to me would be the interesting point, as if the council gets the benefit at no cost, then they should offer the same to the staff.
