Hello I wanted to tell everyone in Maricopa that plans on ordering rocks for landscaping that I only live 1/8 mile from WildCat Rocks located on JohnWayne pkwy just over the tracks on the left hand side and they are not charging a delivery fee however, they are slipping in a $58.59 fuel charge fee. When I asked why since I live so close the owner Terry was very RUDE and said he has to pay it so the consumer has to pay.

I hung up and called CHANDLER ROCK located on Arizona Ave in Chandler. Awesome customer service no delivery charge for over 10 ton same as other company. AND guess what NO FUEL CHARGE APPLIES, plus their rocks were $2.00 per ton chaper saving me a grand total of $86.50

SAVING $86.50 and they were very nice helpful and where happy for my business. Just because Wildcat Rocks is the only game in town does not mean we have to use them.

I try very hard to support all Maricopa businesses but I must draw the line somewhere.

That is funny because I got a quote for some rock from Chandler Rock and the extra charges were ridiculous and at Wildcat it was just $25 for delivery (as I was under 10 tons). I have not experienced that same issue there. I hope you are happy with your result. I am sure it looks great!

I have ordered rock 4 different times from Wildcat and the old guy (I'm guessing his name is Jesse) there is always nice and the delivery guys have always been nice (yes I have spoken to the delivery guys when they drop off my rock). They even dropped the rock off at the time I wanted and place (side yard) I wanted. They have always charged a delivery fee, but I wouldn't expect them to drop it off for free.

Your post is ridiculous and trying to slam a local business over a fuel charge (when diesel gas is $4.50 a gallon) and saying the owner is rude is probably false because you were probably the one complaining and took his answer as being rude because it wasn't the answer you were looking for.

I would buy rock from Wildcat again and would highly recommend them.

Yup, apparently your line is $86.50

Juat to let you know, no matter what you are buying there will always be someone cheaper somewhere. If you looked hard enough you could have probably saved another $3.50

BTW I have worked with Terry @Wildcat several times and have never known him to be rude. Makes me wonder what you really said to him?

Glad you could save 80 someodd dollars, buy from an out of towner and thrash a good local businessman at the same time.

Call it a 3-fer...Hooray!

I went into Wildcat a couple of months ago and asked if I could walk around their rock piles and select some rocks that I thought might be suitable for painting. Whomever I spoke with was very gracious and told me to go ahead. When I was finished, I went back to the office with my arms loaded with rocks of all sizes and offered to pay and the guy just waved me off and said no charge. I was thrilled as my dad used to run the same kind of business and I know without a doubt he would have done the same thing. I told the guy I would bring him back a couple if they worked out well, which they did. Someone else was in the office when I returned with my" works of art", but I feel sure they were appreciated by the owners. I haven't gone back for more, but when I do I will pay expect to pay next time. I know it won't be much. I also figure I will need some decorative rock for my yard in the next year or so, and Wildcat will be first on my list to call. They "rock"!

I have to agree Chandler Rock is cheaper and they don’t include the 10% "fuel charge" when they say free delivery over 10 tons they mean it. Wildcat has friendly people I’m just not going to pay an extra $40 if I don’t have to….

We love Wildcat and have used them in the past. It was only a $25 fee for delivery, so I don't know what you mean by fuel charge, but I can def. understand a fuel charge I mean c'mon now look at the gas prices. It was super cheap there IMO too.

I have bought rock from Wildcat for my backyard and they did NOT charge us any fuel fee. We were charged the $25 delivery fee. I thought the man we talked to was very professional and helpful. Told us what kind of rock we had in the front and match it in the back.

this has been many months (well before the outrageous fuel increases) and Chandler Rock was several dollars cheaper than Wildcat for what we needed. They may be nice, and they may be local, but I'm not going to pay a premium for that either.

OP: I'm glad you got your rock
and to the others that had a good experience with Wildcat, good for you guys too!

How many months?
Why did you decide to bring it up now after all this time, especially since you've been a member for nearly a year?

the fuel charge is something recent.. it's 10% of your total purchase what I find interesting is that they charge you this whether you pick it up or they deliver it ... again they are nice people but if you can save 10% on a large purchase.....

With the fuel crisis we are all going to be paying more for things due to it.  Just look at the airlines!  That is an obvious case, but there will be many repercussions in everything we buy in our daily lives.

Perhaps, the ONE good thing that will come out of all of this is that we as a nation will comeup with alternate fuel sources and will reduce our need on oil from the Arab states.  It reminds me of a scene from the movie, "Sirianna" (George Cloney & Brad Pitt).  An Arab prince asks Brad Pitt what the American's thought about them and Pitt replies that 100 years ago you were all just a bunch of tribes living in the desert fighting each other. "And now? the Prince asked.  That in another 100 years you will all be a bunch of tribes living in the desert fighting each other.

Anyway, back to the topic.  Different people have different experiences with the same company.  Check them both out and buy from the one with the best deal!

Dealt with them a couple of times, never was anyone rude. It did suck have to pay a fuel charge for something I hauled myself, but had I driven to Chandler and back (twice) it would have cost me the same, if not more.

it was over 6 months ago.  i'm not looking to give them a black eye, as the OP may want to do.  I was just adding my experience with the company, as other posters had done.
