what, I love the cat pictures. I hate cats, but long cat, ceiling cat, and now basement cat will always have a special place in my heart. I remember on a message board called offtopic.com, anyone posting long cat got banned, because it often took up pages upon pages to load the cat as he was so long. It was great. He is amazing.

I went to Ace on Monday and asked if they had something for fly control. Despite our best efforts, they were laying eggs in our trash dumpster. I think the kid that helped me was younger than some of my shoes but he gave me instructions that were dead on... he said to put 25% bleach, 25% vinegar, and 50% water in a spray bottle and spray the inside of the dumpster with it. The bleach will kill larva and eggs and the vinegar changes the pH of the bottom so it's too acidic for growth. He was right! After cleaning out the dumpster (again!), we sprayed it with the solution and we haven't had any flies in our back yard in days. He said that the flies are breeding in everyone's dumpsters and people have been spending a lot of money on chemicals but they don't need them. We can sit on our patio again.

I purchased one of those Zapper Racquet things a few years ago when I lived in California.  Good to know I can get it locally.  Thanks Bankchick!  It's a form a stress relief, I think.  However, as I was doing the dishes I used the zapper on a fly.  I'm like, " Cool...I killed that little sucker in mid air"....Nope.  To my surprise, as I finished up with the dishes, that sucker started to flutter it's little wings again.  I was like..."NO WAY!"  Apparently,  I only disabled the pesky guy for a few.  I guess it acts as a tazing affect only.  Until you hold the zapper down long enough and watch him FRY...fun, fun, fun.

One other observation I had was that I left a half a bottle  wine cooler out in the yard, and the flies gravitated towards that as well.

Hey no problem! i also noticed that they don't always die immediately! it just makes it that more challenging! have you ever touched the zapper? my husband was showing my cousin his "new toy" and starting banging it on his hand saying, "it doesn't hurt" and then all of a sudden you hear this POP and he jumped about a mile high! those flies are some tough suckers if they can take it and my hubby can't!
