I think someone needs to open a boxing gym and let these kids take out their aggression and differences in a healthy and fair way. We have one it is called... Jane Askew Park apparently . I think jhall has the idea. What happened to the old days of a 1 on 1 fight and that was it when it was done it was done. Also there was no weapons involved and today kids think they are adults and can understand the consequences of their actions when if fact then haven’t the slightest idea. MPD needs to stop this fast or it will only grow and get worse as this town grows. I would never want to feel I am not safe in my neighborhood or that innocent people might get caught in the middle of these issues. | | Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. ~Lord Acton

Alert | Do parents have to sign a waiver before their kids pics are published from a school sporting event or something?
What about when you go to the Salsa Festival or something like that. Do those teens parents have to give permission for the photos?
Just curious about the rules here. I'd be interested to know. Maybe Maricopans should make a point of always being "armed" with their camera and we can start exposing the hoodlums that need to be exposed... | | Repeat after me... My parents are NOT to blame. Alert | | Let's not jump to conclusions, either. Until we know for sure what actually happened and whether it was indeed gang related, it's a bit too early to be freaking out about our city going to hell in a hand basket.

In a word... No. You can publish them without releases.
Being armed with a camera is always a good idea. Even a cell phone camera can be a great tool. | | Let X=X

Alert | | I also think much of what people hear is like telephone and is expanded on from person to person. So it will be interesting to see what the PD has to say... | | Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. ~Lord Acton

Alert | Can you trust that the MPD is going to give us the truth? Hasn't that been a concern on other forums here? Are there town hall meetings that all city agencies partake in that the public can attend and get these issues addressed? Just asking---------------- |

Alert | Folks,
I think it may be needed is the forming of "Community Watch" programs and having people patrol thier own community. Maricopa county has the "Posse" and it seems to do a good job.
I am new to Maricopa and it's problems, but talking doesn't usually get a whole lot done. Action makes things happen. Perhaps approaching the Maricopa Police Force or the Sherrif's office and requesting a volunteer assistance to the police be formed.
Just a suggestion.

Alert | | Block Watch time, or nightly patrols in the parks. This is a community issue, and let's nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand. | | "My favorite health club is the International House of Pancakes" -- Lewis Black

Alert | well, Posted below is the official word. It was not an altercation
What is great here is that people took notice and DID something when they thought there was an issue.
Great job, Maricopa! This is a great start!

Alert | The police have released a press release saying that the kids were at the park to play ball! They said they were in a designated area. I and three other adults saw the kids on the golf course (private property) and the retention basin which is not visible from the park again, private property. I gave the police photos, we all gave the police our personal info. There are no ball fields in the park at Rancho. Why are the police painting us as paranoid adults? The kids said "Don't worry, they can't do anything to us!" Guess they are right! They seem to be running this town!

Alert | | I was upset to see the baseball bat. I had the terrible misfortune of witnessing a murder of a young college student. As I stepped from a restaurant back East, a guy with a bat struck another guy in the back of the head at the brain stem, I watched as the kid fall to the ground. As he laid dying in the street, his body lost control of his bodily functions and died in front of his girlfriend. I will never forget it. Why do kids have baseball bats on a golf course Officer Judd?

Alert | We as the "general public" will never get the fully story from any PD department. What do you want them to say We have a gang issue so everyone be aware? They think it the sugar coat story we will believe all is well and safe. Sad that society has also gotten to the point where Children run the show. When did adults stop being Adults and turn things over to the kids? I was at the store this weekend and I watch a child (8-10 yrs old) tell his mother what she was buying him to eat (large amounts of garbage food) and when she put up a fight her and the child argued like 2 adults would and the child won. Nothing seems to get under my skin more then this when a parent doesn’t want to be the adult and lets the child do these things. That is why when they get to be 18-21 they have no job and start draining society then… because for some reason they feel it is owed to them. How is it owed to them is what I have always wondered….
