I don't know what happened as of 5:00, but at 4:00 they still needed five signatures. They were busy today cutting deals. As I understand it, tomorrow is the vote - tonight was a discussion on the agreements the city would have to make to get the signatures.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who will tell me if I misinterpreted anything.

Well if they didn't have it buy meeting time it is all over.  They had 13 months and all kinds ways to get it done legally and proper.  I keep hearing tales of sign now and you can opt  out later, what a way to do business.  Annex the proper way and it will flow so easy and sweet, instead of this kinky business dealings.

City of Maricopa grows by 13.75 acres.

(May 14, 2008, Maricopa, Ariz.) - The City of Maricopa has grown to 56.75 square miles as the City Council passed an ordinance to annex 13.75 acres at a special meeting held on May 14, 2008.

The annexation area is located along SR 238 and borders the Maricopa County boundary on the west, Bowlin Road on the south and Ralston Road on the east.

"The residents and property owners in this area have always been an extended part of the Maricopa Community, and we are excited to officially welcome them into the City of Maricopa," stated Mayor Kelly Anderson.

This process began on April 17, 2007 when the City filed the petition for Annexation 07-01. In order to be fiscally responsible and responsive to property owners in the area, the City reduced the original size of the annexation area on December 18, 2007. A total of nine neighborhood meetings, and countless internal meetings with property owners, residents, and developers in the area, have been held to facilitate information and answer questions. To get to today's meeting, the City needed to obtain signatures from more than 50% of the total number of property owners in the annexation area and at least 50% of the total valuation of the annexation territory.

"It has been a privilege working with the property owners and meeting the members of our extended Maricopa community," stated Nicole Dailey, annexation project manager.

Fifteen minutes after I received this email notifcation, I received a corrected one which reads 13.75 Square miles, not 13.75 acres

There is a front-page story with a lot more detail than what the city emailed.

There goes another hate filled post from the resident Maricopa hater azcowgrl.  I will admit that your posts are rather good for entertainment purposes. 85239.com should pay you. It takes talent to come up with comments such as this classic azcowgrl rant:

"yep SO USE IT DON'T ASK FOR MORE, JUST ACCPECT AND WE ARE HAPPY. tHANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. and agreeance.. aGAIN duh, THAT'S WHAT I said."

I love your posts azcowgrl. I know exactly what you are responding to each time. You are old school. You hate Maricopa. You hate paved roads and running water. You also hate proper grammar and the English language. You are not very hard to figure out. You bash everyone and offer zero solutions, and you are in denial about growth. All in all, it makles for very good reading and great entertainment.
