A favorite spot for years - Red Rock Crossing.  There is the stream and picnic grounds there.  You go SOUTH out of Sedona as if you were going to Cottonwood.  The turnoff will be on your left about 2 -3 miles out of town, then about a mile to get to it.  If you have seen the "thousands" of pictures taken of Sedona where there is a stream in the foreground and red rocks covered with a dusting of snow in the background - that was taken from Red Rock Crossing.

Also, a great place for lunch ( I almost hate to give this out as only locals and people who grew up in AZ know about it), but there is a little strip mall on the right before you get to the stoplight in the middle of town.  It is small and to park,  it is slightly on a hill.  Anyway, there is a resturant there called The HideAway.  It is at the very back and you go down steps to get to it.  It is on the creek overlooking it.  Great sandwiches and atmosphere!

Have fun!

If you like to 4 wheel, do the jeeps you rent and go off on their trails by yourself and not on a tour it is so much fun..... airport something sorry don't remember is where you go up a mountain to watch the sunset. when you get in town there is a vistors center stop there they are real helpful.... you also have to see the church in the mountain. we stay just outside of Sadona motel in the pines, it is affordable and sits on the side of a mountain... or you can stay at one of the resorts and do their 90 min presentation and get a free room or discounted room...
