Alert | | I rarely come here anymore, when I first considered moving out here over 2 years ago I found this place and it was jumping I loved it, but as time moved on, the website just became a bitter place, between the people who ran it and the citizens of this town that wanted to be heard (and some who wanted to act like kids). Sad thing is i dont think it will ever get its luster back and thats the people who run this place's fault | |

Alert | I guess I missed the boat here, or they have forgotten to charge me for using the site, I thought this was a free site where you can go and see what everybody has to say and can post a reply to it and just enjoy shooting the breeze with your neighbors, You can sell anything from pets to motorcycles to furniture to cars and it doesn't cost a thing, advertise your garage sale or look for a yardman or a cleaning person, I just can't understand all the complaining or what luster some of you seem to think that the site owe's you, I've lived out here for four years but as usual I'm always the last one to find out about something so I just recently found the site, and I enjoy it, and I'm going to keep enjoying it, so come on some of you, lighten up and just enjoy visiting with your neighbors on here. | | | |

Alert | | Jason maybe, just maybe it falls under the "practice what you preach" or the favoritism people saw, and yes this place has lost its luster and while some of the people who have the inability to act like adults on a forum are partially to blame, the people who run this site could have also acted better themselves. It's a 50/50 thing, while the people who run this place see this place as a business, the people who actually post here saw it as a place for the community, for EVERYONE, and every oppinion, not just what this place saw fit, or as long as people didn't tell the truth about how crappy a 85239 advertisers business really was. I see it as 2 trucks playing chicken and neither would back down so they crashed. Both "sides" are at fault but if "85239" cared enough they would have done better damage control to keep their business going. I would bet money 2 years from now this site will be non-existant moreso than it already is which is sad because this place had allot of potential. | |

Alert | Really Jodypag...you think advertisers on 85239 don't get their monies worth? That really surprises me because this has always been the first place I come to find anything I need done. I've lived here 4 years and have given my business to the advertisers on 85239 numerous times. I think it's the best place available to get opinions on which businesses are good and which aren't. Now if I use a business and they don't meet my expectations, then I don't feel any obligation to go back to them but at least this website gave them an opportunity. It's certainly a lot better than opening a phone book and randomly picking someone.
I don't post much either but have certainly seen a decline in activity on the forum. I think some "old timers" started thinking of this place as their own personal space and didn't like being told to follow the rules. You're right, this is a business and I'm not sure why that's a bad thing. Some people behave like idiots and have to be censored. What I find interesting is those same people seem to keep coming back here, even if it's just to bash it. They may come back as an alternate but they come back just the same.

Everyone who gets censored because they lacked a little self-control cries favoritism. So they ran to another forum. And guess what they complained about: favoritism. Why? Moderators can't be everywhere every second of the day. One person whines that their post was up for only an hour before it was taken down and suddenly there's favoritism because someone else's post who was just as bad was up for 6 hours. Never mind that it was overnight. Favoritism is a smokescreen for not being able to play under the rules. the people who run this site could have also acted better themselves. Suppose you are 85239. What would you have done differently? Let the children run amok? They were not happy until they went on a swearing binge on their own site. They weren't happy until they tried as hard as they could to steal traffic from this site. As a business, what should 85239 do? Think about Wal-Mart. Would they let people hold signs up in their store spreading rumors and lies about how Wal-Mart conducts business? No. Why is 85239 any different? It's a 50/50 thing, while the people who run this place see this place as a business, the people who actually post here saw it as a place for the community, for EVERYONE, and every oppinion, not Virtually every opinion was allowed. Certain expressions of it weren't, but then most of those expressions aren't allowed on the other site either. To be fair, the other side definitely censored things. as long as people didn't tell the truth about how crappy a 85239 advertisers business really was. Give me a break. There were all kinds of threads about how 85239 advertiser businesses were bad. Alert | I have been around since the begining of this forum, I lost interest a few months ago and only log in about once a week and just reed a few posts. It became very boring, not much new information, and it seemed to be more of a place where business owners are being backed into a wall to defend their actions when posters seem to want to put them down, more than they would if they were face to face.
I am also a local business owner, have a small ad on here, and decided to stay away from here for fear that someone would want to criticise me for something really stupid. I have been toying with the idea to go for the bigger ad, but worried that it might not be worth it. In the past, I myself came on this forum just to see the new businesses in town and what people really thought of them, but after a while, I wondered if the opinions of the posters were really a justified opinion or just people that complain about everything?
I am going to make an effort to "come back" and try to spark a little life into this place.
Why not? It might start a "new" life here! | |
