so diatomaceous will get rid of crickets?  crickets are terrible here, we have more then you see in the pet store lol.... no problem with scorpions that I know of... but we do have black widows and hobo spiders ... want to get rid of all creepy crawlies......

If you don't get rid of the other bugs the scorpions will set up camp in your yard - you have to remove their food supply and keep it under control! Regular pest control kills the critters that scorpions feed on and forces them to go elsewhere.

"No problem that you know of"... buy or borrow a black light and take a tour of your yard.  If you have lots of crickets - you have scorpions, too.  They're staying outside where the food is for now.  When you get pest control service make sure the service will kill the bugs AND the scorpions or the scorpions will come inside looking for more food...

Actually I used to work at a pool store.  The street name is D.E. Powder and its very bad to breathe!  So whoever said its fine for kids and animals needs to do some research.  When we poured it in pools I would either hold my breath or pull shirt over mouth and nose.  Here is a msds: www.poolwaterproducts.com/msds/vendor/Hasa/Diatomaceous_Earth.pdf

Be watchful and careful for a few months.  I know of two instances where people who moved to Maricopa discovered live scorpions while unpacking boxes they had stored in the garage at their old residence.

We have Home Team and they do the wall tubing for us and all... but we have a serious spider infestation. Seems like we're always spraying for them and they only "go away" for a lil while right after the service. I have a suspicion our sod was infested... anyone know if this is possible? Any recommendations for DIY spider control? We have numerous kind, to include black widows. Luckily it's mostly outside, but we can't even go play around on our grass cos they're everywhere.

We recently had a couple scorpions find their way into the house via the garage. The first one was intercepted by one of the cats and she ended up getting stung on the paw. Luckily she must have pulled it away fast enough to not get any venom, but her paw was in some obvious pain for about a 1/2 hour. We called the emergency vet and they said not to bring her in unless we noticed any other symptoms. She never showed any other signs of illness so I guess we dodged a bullet there! After that a second scorpion came in through the garage and I our dog found it, I knew somthing was up when I saw her jump back. She didn't get stung and luckilty the cats didn't see this one otherwise I'm sure they would have been all over it. I searched the garage with a black light and couldn't find any more, there were quite a few crickets though. Diatemacious earth does work well! We just hadn't put down any in quite a while and I guess all the bugs thought it was safe to move back into our garage. Nothing makes it inside the house without being crushed or eaten by a cat. Just don't want the cats going after the scropions or black widows.

I have a ton of Arizona Brown Spiders and unlike the normal spider that eats other bugs these are dangerous if they bite a human, especially a child.  I caught my 5 year old trying to kill one by punching it...not good.  This spider is an offspring of the Brown Recluse and is bad news.  I had a friend bitten by one of these and said it hurts a ton more than a black widow which apparently has bitten him more than a few times.

Will these methods handle spiders?  I've read that spiders can only be killed on contact rather than preventive measures as the spider is not affected by simply walking over poison like an ant or other varmint.  I do know that when I see one, a shot of Raid Ant & Anything killer really pisses them off quick and the crumble into a little ball...easy for pickup and disposal.

We came home from vacation last weekend to find a palm sized scorpion by the bathoom. He got the back end of a broom. Then we spent the next hour shaking out sheets and making sure he didn't bring friends. =)

The next day we picked up some diatomacious earth from Ace. They sell a small bag in the pest control area, and labeled as such, for 10.99. Then they sell a huge box in the pool supply area, labeled for pool filtration, for 13.99. It's looks like the same thing. I guess it's just marked up for "pest control". We just put it around the border of the house. It's pretty hard to disguise the chalk white powder against the desert landscaping the front yard, so I hope the HOA doesn't throw a fit. It's worth it to us if it means keeping scorpions away from us and the kiddo. We used a cheapo face mask when applying it. It's supposed to be pretty harmless once you apply it, but I guess foreign substances are bad for your lungs.

I think you should just get stung by them. Once you get stung by about 3 of them you will become immune to scorpion stings. At about 10 stings you will be immune to all insect stings and bites. About 250 stings will act as a good immunization against Herpes and HPV.

You're welcome.

I was being serious. You can't become the next Scorpion King by eating scorpions. You have to defeat Triple H and Stone Cold in a triple threat match, then you can be the Scorpion King.

Edge carried UT for the last year. UT is a snooze fest, and the WWE women's division is a snooze fest too.
