Alert | | There is a chance, but I haven't really heard of bad areas here. I'd keep an eye open, but wouldn't worry about it. | | ..... If you can dream it, I can build it.

Alert | | Spraying won't kill scorpions, best you can do is kill their food source, they particularly enjoy crickets. Spreading diatomaceous earth around the outside of the house and in the attic is supposed to help, but the outside would have to be reapplied every time it rained. | | The red head is BACK!! Alert | | Actually, you can kill scorpions. I hear people say you can't all the time, but that is incorrect, I know this first hand, I will have to argue that from experience. I live out in Hidden Valley, in the desert and had a new house built. I had a serious problem when I moved in with the scorpions. I went down to bug and weed mart, they provided me with a couple of chemicals, and I've NEVER had a problem since. The only ones that have ever made it in my house (just a couple in 3 yrs) since then, are dead. The chemicals I use inside of the house are safe for pets too. If you're having a serious problem, feel free to PM me, and I will give you my # to call and we can talk and I'll llet you know the stuff I use. Good luck!

Alert | I second the bug and weed mart!!!! that place is great! We have been buying our products from them since we've lived out here and haven't had a problem once...matter of fact, when one of the exterminator companies came around to sell us their service they asked me what I was using and accused me of using some crap from home depot...when I told them what it was he started laughing and said, "thats the exact same stuff we use, thank you maam, have a nice day" and left! bug and weed mart in tempe (baseline and rural) 480-820-5034 | | Formerly DRich

Alert | | Thanks for all the advice. The scorpion was killed the same night we found it. So far there has been only one. Probably just got a little thirsty since it was in the bath tub. I will send my husband out to the bug and weed mart to check it out. Thanks again!!! | | Proud Momma of 2 beautiful boys!!!

Alert | Next time there is a scorpion inside spray it with really well hair spray( less toxic) step on it , use thick fold of paper towel or tiizers to pick it up and dispose of it. Tail can still stick you so be sure not toget in the way. If you are really good pinch the tail bulb between your fingers to pickit up.To check if there are more in the area place a damp towel or burlap bag on the ground at night and very, very carefully lift it up check the bottom for critters. Do this early in in the a.m. Call any local externinator. My son made all of his spending money collecting scorpions for ASU prof. years ago. $1.00 each oops type o

Alert | One of the Bug and Weed Marts is on Baseline and Rural. Their number is 820-5034 (probably 480) There is also one in Scottsdale and Mesa I think. The outside chemical is called Cy-Kick CS, the inside one is called Permethrin 10%, then you can also use some Granules, their in a red bag but I can't remember the name. They are very helpful there and will answer any questions you have and tell you what you need. I believe it costs me like $12 a month to do it myself, as opposed to what the exterminator charges, it's much cheaper and it's the same stuff that they use! . The bottles are concentrated but mine have lasted me more than a year and I spray once a month, no problems at all. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. As one who's personally known they joys of having Scorpions in the house, I'd love to help anyone out who needs it!! Good luck!

Alert | | Just one more suggestion that I learned early when moving out into the desert. Shut the front porch light off at night! Every bug there possibly is that lives in the desert will think that your house, with the light, is where the party is at. Once you have all of the little bugs partying at your front door, the bigger ones come into to feast on the littler ones, happy hour! Let me tell you, some of these guys could have their own room. I thought I was just going to die when I first came out here, and I'm not talking about a Scorpion stinging me. It was going to be the heart attack I had opening my front door and seeing them, the sting wouldn't have mattered cause I'd already be dead from the heart attack! Luckily...it's all good now!!!

Alert | | I have a question. idiamundintheruf you said that it saves you money by doing it yourself, which would obviously be true. But, Home Team hooks up the line and squirts the poison into the walls as well as spays around the house. Does using the spray around the house etc.... take care of the possibility of bugs getting into the house via the walls?

Alert | | I'm not aware of how the stuff that goes inside of the walls work? I've personally never had one of those systems. The stuff that I've been using is sprayed around the outside wall of the house, about 2 feet up the base of the house, so that anything that makes it to the wall of the house and tries to climb up, walks across the chemical and dies, therefore not getting in. Then there's the stuff inside, just in case. For an extra measure, the granules work well by adding an addition barrier outside on the ground around the house. I'm not familiar with how the inside the walls stuff works, I'm sure it works just as well to, but maybe the people at the bug and weed mart might be able answer your question. I just know that the methods that I've been using, have been working very well in my situation.

Alert | | The stuff we use is called Suspend SC, and you can use it inside and out. All you do is spray around the baseboards and then outside along the perimeter and up about 4' on the house. | | Formerly DRich

Alert | The diatomacious earth DOES WORK. You can get it at Home depot and all it is, is the real fine white powder that is used for pool and spa filters. I use a large shaker like pizza hut has for their parmesian cheese. You have to re-fill it alot. Just sprinkle it heavely around the stemwall of your home. It is harmless to children and pets. NO CHEMICALS!!! I live in the boonies and yes, you do have to re-apply when it rains, but how often can that be? And it is dirt cheap compared to the chemical stuff at the do it yourself shops. and I do not like chemicals around children and pets. If you have a real serious concern that there could be more, buy some real large "SMOOTH ICE TEA GLASSES and place each leg of the babies crib inside one. the scorpions cannot climb the slippery glass. Also, pull the crib away from the wall as much as you can. The most common scorpion out here is the bark scorpion, and they are usually found climbing walls, or as in your case at a source for moisture. the babies tub! I even have found one inside my toilet bowl laping water, and I kindly obliged him with a "Flush" Such a good feeling! If there is a sting that does happen, immediately apply ice and call 911 for further medical treatment. Don't ever assume, there is nothing to worry about. I would rather they laugh at my "silly" phone call, than assume anything!
