Alert | I have a friend Tony Tellez who asked me to post this for him. He said you can be skeptical, but they are providing you with opportunities to meet Reiley and see just how she will touch YOUR life like she has other people. Like me. That KISS melted me. Reiley gave him a big kiss and a hug the other day when she met him for the first time. Again, she has two website, one is strictly about her medical fund, golf tourney, a you tube tribute to her, and now I blog there too. www.reileylakemedicalfund.weebly.com The other I have had since I think August or September of last year... I was keeping a word document until another special needs mom told me about this site. www.caringbridge.org/visit/reileylake People all the time are in the news looking for help, seeking answers, asking their community can you help me... I don't see how my posts are any different than that. I want the best life for my child, I want the best care for her, I want her brothers and sister to not lose their sibling, I don't want to lose a child... is that so wrong?

Alert | Susan, You don't need to apologize for your posts. Since we are, for the most part, a community of transplants, we need to reach out and create our support networks any way we can. Even though I have never met you or your family, as a mother of two daughters (one of whom was 2 months premature) I can sympathize with all that you're going through - especially having to navigate through the complex healthcare system in order to advocate the best care for your daughter. So please, continue to reach out to your "family" in Maricopa - we are here to support you. | | Adversity does not build character - it reveals it.

Alert | Has no-one heard of reverse-psychology marketing?
This thread has been read, to date by over 900 people, whereas all Eanizer's other posts concerning Reiley have been read by many many less.
I guess advertising a controversial attitude helps get the word out! (You're welcome, Eanizer, by the way!)
I'm surprised that you all fell for my callous treatment of the original poster..... you must all come into contact with differing points of view daily, so why was mine so bad?
I have to confess that I chuckled quite a lot reading some of you responses to my post, and also I admit that I received several PM's from forum members agreeing with my post's sentiments...
Anyway, if I care what happens to Reiley or not, that is my business, but I have helped get the word out, have made a contribution, and wish to keep this topic fresh...... come to your own conclusions about my sincerity.
I hope there is good news on the horizon for such a sweet girl... and kudos to Maui Wowi for donating the Salsa festival's takings to such a good cause.

Alert | Well Catch 22 Thanks!!!
I posted on one of my other forum boards that is read by people across the nation the link to this thread, because I was quite hurt at your reply. But that's okay, I'm a strong person.
Again, you have the right to your opinion, but I wanted to share your opinion with others. I too received many, many messages, and PM's about your reply. Over 145 people read that post on the nationwide forum I posted the link to and I know many people reposted or forwarded on. So I guess you really did help me out, because all that really matters in the end, is that my daughter gets the medical help she needs and and the care she deserves!!! And hopefully someday a diagnosis as to what ails her. And I will post more Kuddos than Maui Wowi - The Burns Clean Team is also donating proceeds from their services until June 15th from a card that they had made up for us. One side has their information, one side has Reiley's information. If you would like any Carpet, upholstery, tile cleaning service and would like one of the cards, please PM me and I can mail it to you or have it delivered.
I would like to thank Tim of H&N Landscape for offering to sponsor a hole and have additional golfers as well.
I would like to thank the Maricopa Fire Fighters Local Union 4561 for helping us spread the word and make visits to the house to see how the family is doing.
I would like to thank Howard Waggner for taking photos of Reiley that have been used by a local publication.
I would like to thank another local forum for holding auctions to help ours and another family in need - all monies going directly to Casey's Children.
I would like to thank Cactus Valley Transportation for offering us transportation to and from the airport when we leave town to take Reiley to these specialist.
And again Mayor Tony Smith for playing in the tournament!!
And there will be more people I need to thank once they confirm everything with my husband.
Thank you Maricopa and I really hope that we can get this golf tournament set here in the next two weeks!!!
I thank everyone who is supporting our efforts to help our daughter and hopefully help other families in the end as well, and with this golf tournament, I think that can be a possible!!!

Alert | I haven't read all your posts (sorry I'm rarely on here) but I caught a line about muscle bx and mitochondrial disease. I have a 5 yr old son with mito and a chromosome deletion at 2q37.3. As I was browsing through I saw that you are trying to get to see some out of state specialists. We took our son to the Cleveland Clinic to see Dr. Bruce Cohen (world renowned specialist in mito). We were able to get Southwest airlines to donate tickets and there is a Ronald McDonald house on the campus that offers lodging. What you wrote about having a child who "looks normal" but is a train wreck internally/developmentally hit so close to home. I'd love to chat with you, I think we may be able to offer each other some support. I've been down this awful road of not knowing, then the gut wrenching road of knowing. I can probably offer you some advice that may save you some valuable time and heartache. (I sent you an email through this website with my contact info). In any case, best of luck! | | Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Alert | Nursiegirl, I will email you. I actually met with Dr. Bruce Cohen while he was doing Grand Rounds. He was in Phoenix at St. Joe's back in February and I got Reiley's medical book ready, sat at the presetation with her for four hours and he was kind enough to look at her and look at her book. He read one of the geneticist reports and said "this sounds so familiar" and wrote down five tests/labs that she should have done. Which our geneticist is going to do as well as mtDNA point mutation labs. I'm also speaking with someone from "Unique" its a Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group, I think there is more to her and I having this GAIN in Chromosome 12 and the PDF file they sent me, almost supports that fact. Where conventional wisdom says it's not likely, we may be one of those EXTREMELY Rare cases. Apparently there is a doctor in Boston who does a lot of studying on 12p duplications, which what she and I share. But no one has looked to see if the duplication is balanced and exact. So I'm going to probe the geneticist here more.
Thank you to those of you who came up to me yesterday at the Salsa Festival to talk about my daughter. I love that we are getting more support for the Golf Tourney and please we have space left for golfers, so please spread the word!!
And for those of you that supported any of the vendors donating proceeds to her medical fund, I again thank you so much!!!

Alert | Huge news!!! Reiley is going to be a frequent flier, LOL!! Got a call from Boston today and the GI who is not accepting patients, has agreed to see Reiley!! Not sure of when yet, but this is so awesome!!! This was the doctor I really wanted to go to because of all the great things I have heard about him from friends on my SWAN group. He knows Reiley has had a lot done, and not sure that he will come up with any answers either, but he is willing to see her and see if he can't figure out the GI mess. Thank you to my friend MEP who helped us get her medical records in front of him. I will post as soon as I know a date. Oh and as a P.S. they are surprised she has never had a colonoscopy or a Ph Probe.... I said I was surprised too that she hasn't been looked at from head to toe, the GI system is quite big... Anyway, this is good news as he is an "outside the box" thinker!!!

Alert | I have posted some recent updates about Reiley on her caringbridge site. A friend Mallardisme contacted KTAR and you can view a story about her as well on their website. Local news Radio Station KTAR 92.3 Darrell Ankarlo - Ankarlo in the mornings and Rob Hunter producer of the show, have put this story on their website about Reiley helping us with promoting her Golf Tournament and raising funds for her medical care.

Alert | Sorry the above link doesn't work for the KTAR blog.. If you just go to Ankarlo blog spots you will see her story. We will be on the air on May 28th at 1135am thank you to mallardisme for contacting them.
Thank you to RuthAnne for doing the story "Heathcare sevices still lag behind population growth" and Jake Johnson for taking such cute photos. Also to Howard WaGGner for his cute photo at the top of the story. I hope that the story will bring more awarness to the lagging healthcare services and special services needed for families with special needs children, here in Maricopa. It is important that the city think about all the families here with special needs children who need services, NEED support groups right here in our city, as well as sibshops (workshops for children who have special needs siblings). This is a very big hole that needs to be corrected - availability of services, the need for DES, WIC, AHCCCS and DDD to be right here in Maricopa Monday - Friday. I found it interesting the spokesperson for the County mentioned the mobile unit they have in Maricopa twice a week. However what wasn't mentioned is the mobile location is at the Baptist Church South of the tracks. People standing outside in the hot sun waiting for these workers to show up who I was told are there Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to noon. The person I had my phone interview with to renew our state services told me to show up at 930am. The workers didn't arrive until almost 10am. Went inside and locked the door until they were set up. Then finally opened the door about 10-15 minutes later. And we all crammed into a tiny room no bigger than my den, and then Ifound out these hours were set up for people with appointments. So we were made to stand around even longer while all we needed to have done was be finger printed and were told to just go on in and get it done and we would be done. Anyway, my point is, this mobile location is not a fix, it's not even a start. We need services available to the citizens of Maricopa in Maricopa. In a building were they can go inside and out of the elements. Were they have people available for appointmens only and people who need assistance in getting started or dropping off paperwork, or just needed to get fingerprinted. We need support groups set up and sibshops. Councilmen and women I hope you hear the cries of the special needs community and the community who needs state assistance. Thank you!
