This is exactly why block watch is needed.

Keep your eyes out for more information of the next meeting. The more we get our neighbors involved the safer we'll become.

One day these kids will break into the wrong house and end up dead...anyone ever breaks into my house and I feel threatened in any way they will have a bullet in there head regardless. If I dont feel threatened maybe just a bullet in there leg depends.

Do you think you could bring up again at the next HOA meeting that neighbors should leave their porch lights on at night? I don't think it would cost a lot and it might make the burglars/thugs/juveniles etc. to think twice about breaking in. When we lived in Florida we were part of the neighborhood watch and a policeman came and told us different ways to protect ourselves. Turnin

Turning on your porch lights was one way to deter them. Also, (and I don't know if it's the same here as in Florida, but) he told us the best security system is your neighbor. He explained that if your alarm system goes off the relay time an officer reacts from the security company is slower than if a neighbor (or yourself) called in saying they thought there was a robbery happening or strangers vandalizing your neighbor. He told us the loud noise of an alarm is good though to scare off most intruders but there is pepper spray you can purchase from the police that you can put on your keychain. Pepper spray is legal but Mace is not. Also, don't buy the pepper spray from a flea market or 7-11 because after 2 years it dilutes in strength and may not work.

Finally, (sorry for the rambling) but let your neighbor know when you are leaving town. We have large dogs and are training them to be watchdogs. I feel terrible about X2BAMommy because if we had known they were leaving town we would have left our dogs outside to guard her house because we live nearby. It's SO important to meet your neighbors. O.K., I'm done. (whew!)

Not only will I bring it up at the next board meeting but it will be the topic of conversation at the next block watch meeting.

I'm in the process of booking for the board meeting.....trying for 10/17.

The block watch will be on 10/24.

There was also a window broken two houses from the burglary above the front door. So the little criminals were busy with the slingshot too.

This is just horrible. Neighbors do need to watch out for each other.
