Warning! Be Careul. While we were on vacation our home was burglarized. They used a pick and totally destroyed the garage service door. Police said it was probably young punks on foot. They didn't do any damage in our home, but they did take some money and camcorder and other items. Any way, Beware and look out for your neighbors, any strange or loud noise calls for some attention. FYI Police officer said that most calls they have gotten have been homes without a security systems in place. We signed up with Brinks this weekenend. Good luck and Be Safe!

I am sorry to hear that your house was broke into. At least your family wasnt home and they are safe. Do you mind me asking where abouts do you live in DC? I am glad we have an alarm.

Ironically I just got off the phone with the deputy that patrols Desert Cedars at night.

We have had a bit of problems with a group of kids that hang out at night at the parks. They are stepping up patrols at night since I was able to give them a bit more information that I've received from a few concerned residents.

The best defense is us as homeowners. Keep an eye out for your neighbors. Get to know them and help watch out for each other when their gone. Report to the police any suspicious activity or people.

Standing together will show these kids that they can't trash our community or burglarized our homes.

Keep your eyes out for the next block watch meeting.

Could it be a possibility that the same punks that a burglarizing are the same ones that graffitied all along Brittlebrush this weekend? Who do we contact to get the graffiti removed?

That is exactly what the deputy that I spoke with last night is thinking. Especially based on what was written and how it was signed.

I will be contacting the city tomorrow to have them get it either painted over and/or removed ASAP. The HOA is partially responsible with the homeowner on the corner. We'll be working with them to have it removed.

We are still waiting to here back from police. The two kids who did this were caught, however the Sheriffs office indicated that they would not be arrested. Something about the jail not being adequate enough. Not that we want two young children to get put away for life, but obviously they need help Now! What does this tell our community about our law enforcement. Like I said we are still waiting to hear back from the Officer's. They were suppose to go over the the main culprets place of residence two nights ago and no word yet. If this kid get's away with it we will continue seeing this kind of crime being committed in our community. I will let you know the out come of this matter. Oh yea, the kid who broke in indicated he would go in and get money and guns, fortunately we had no guns in the house at the time.

Did the slingshot found at the scene lead to anyone?

Yes, the sling shot found in the back yard lead to the boy's. My husband took it to the kid and he didn't confess at the time but then his parents had him do the right thing and come forward. Way to go for his Mom, even though she knows her son may be arrested she is doing the right thing. And yes they both live in DC.

FYI, be careful! We just heard of another break in in DC. Same MO used pick to bust vent in garage and then if garage door leading into house is unlocked the kids go in and steel what they can. Don't leave anything in your card that can help these little culprits and by all means if you hear a loud noise don't be afraid to be a nosie neighbor. If the Law doesn't do anything about this crime spree, they are going to just keep doing it.

My house was broken into last year, 3 kids used a pick I had laying in the back yard and broke the vent in the garage and walked in thru the garage door, my nephew was visiting and was home at the time and didn't realise the house was being burglarized. When he went to the garage he saw two kids running out the side gate and one in the car with the car keys in his hands. He wrestled that kid for the keys and the kid ran away. After the incident, the police was called and the kids were arrested an hour later while they were burglarizing another house two blocks away. Very scary situation. Luckily my nephew wasn't hurt.

Dear Senior Member: As you mentioned you have contact with the deputy patroling DC, please keep us up to date as to the arrest of the criminals, if any. If they don't enforce the law would be pretty shocking and a good story for 85239.com or larger media.

Good News! The police officer in charge of the crime came by and let us know both boys involved were blaiming each other. No, they didn't get arrested, however, they are both being charged. So at least we know our law enforcement is working for us. They will both have to go to court and let the judge decide what their punishment will be. We are just hoping that as young as they are they will learn from this and get help now, not when it's too late.

I don't think that both incidents happened in Desert Cedars. I know of only one other home burglary and one car burglary. The home incident was with the salespeople and they were caught red handed. The car incident was never solved.

I knew that our system works just sometimes not as fast as we would all like.

Sorry to hear about that X2B. I hope the kids get punished and their parents do a better job raising them.
