Alert | I received a mailing yesterday with details of the January 30 meeting - that's great to see! Unfortunately the deadline to submit questions is Monday...if others received this at the same time I did, I doubt anyone will get questions submitted in time.
Anyway, I was surprised to read about a proposed one-time $100 per-lot assessment due to "unexpected costs and increase in trash assessment and collection costs rendered the Association unable to pay fourth quarter bills."
It mentions a ballot to be sent approximately 14 days prior to the meeting.
Question: are details of the 2007 budget results/shortfall information going to be provided with the ballot?
I've posted this question on the Desert Cedars HOA site too (http://www.desertcedarshoa.com/).

Alert | | This board operates pretty much like the government. Don't have enough money, raise taxes, or in this case HOA fees or a special assessment. How's about cutting spending? This is asking those that are paying to continue funding those that aren't. The housing, mortgage crisis is likely to get worse in 2008 and the number of non-payers is likely to increase and next year the special assessment will only go higher for those paying. I'm becoming more inclined to work towards dissolving the HOA, letting the common areas go to the city, paying the costs to maintain them with property taxes and those that don't pay will have their property forclosed on by the government. Most people maintain their homes without those letters from the HOA anyway and the management company expense just adds an additional, unneeded cost and the trash companys will compete against one another for our business.
