I asked those same questions. I was told all the lots will be sold together and that it is impossible to buy individuals. I was also told that whoever buys them could build whatever houses they want. This was all told to me by the elite sales rep. She could be worng but who knows. I would think that our wonderful hoa should have a say on what could be built.

thats very interesting news...and unfortunate especially if someone else could come in and build their own style homes and not stick to what is already in the neighborhood...yet at the same time it could add a sense of something different to our neighborhood...instead of the same looking homes one on top of the other there would be a different look...who knows...i guess we will see what happens

Hopefully whoever buys the excess lots will build houses that are similar quality to the Elite homes. I'd hate for someone to build a bunch of cheap looking $80,000 homes that will turn into rentals eventually. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that a "quality' homebuilder is interested in building out here.

oh man..this news is depressing!!! I like the fact that our homes in barcelona are ALL single story. Though my street is complete, that would suck for someone to have a 2-story home next to them blocking light and also causing them to lose privacy...

I HOPE to God that they dont sell to some crack-shoot company that erects homes that dont "flow" with the homes that are already standing in all 3 communities..

what a shame! and we NEVER had our 1 yr home inspection..guess thats outta the picture!

When another builder buys the open lots, that new builder can build whatever plans they get approved through the city. There aren't many home builders who just build single story's, so the chances of another builder taking over and onlly building single stories is small.

A lot of builders are looking to buy land in Chandler/Gilbert because that area is more desireable right now and land will be inexpensive comparative to what it was 2-3 years ago. There isn't near as much land in Chandler/Gilbert so the builders will be looking to build in-fill pieces (condominiums and attached housing) so they can fit more homes in a smaller area. Witih a lot of the smaller buildes going out of business, there will be land available in those areas that wasn't available 2 years ago.

Builders aren't as likely to take a risk in buying Maricopa property right now because the prices are sooo low for the houses that they can't make the profits they want. Numerous builders in Maricopa are selling their land - not buying more.

If a builder or investor does buy land in Maricopa, they will likely hold on to it for a few years until the market gets better and they can get a better return on their investment. So those empty lots might be there a while even if a builder buys it tomorrow.

Standard Pacific and Richmond American have already sold all their lots in Glennwilde. From what the Standard Pacific guy says, the new people plan to sit on the land for about five years. The way I see it, no neighbors is better than bad neighbors! Of course I live on the worst street in Tortosa!

I think Standard Pacific sold their lots in the Meadows at Glennwilde...their model homes are for sale.  But  Standard Pacific in the Villages at Glennwilde are still building and do not have their model homes up for sale.

i was just thinking the other day that if another builder buys up the remaining lots....does this mean that some HOA rules will be out the door? or will the new builder have to use the same paint schemes for their homes and front yard landscaping patterns? or will this open things up a bit more so we can look a bit more different from the house nextdoor?

our builder might be screwed up but it is positive to see homes being built still in rancho mirage and senita as you drive through town...

i noticed on monday, the little signs that used to be by the fountain and the big sign over by porter/honeycutt area are both gone.

i hope the homes that are still in the process of being built were not being built for someone, but instead were spec homes. i would feel so bad for the people who were planning to buy their home and 6 months later, it's still nothing.

and did anyone else read, First National Bank...the one Elite used as their lender when we bought our home, is also in financial trouble. thank goodness they sold off our loan right after we moved in.

the housing market is bad all over, just feels weird when you know your builder is one of the ones falling apart. and i know it'll be many, many years before Tortosa will ever be finished.

but i was noticing too, how rancho is building like crazy and we're doing nothing. but, then again, that's how the market is. things will get better, just as to when, at this point, who the heck knows.

TG, we also live on Barcelona Lane and are very concerned about the unfinished homes, the pulled weeds blowing into our yard and what could be built on the empty lots. I am generally an optimistic person, but I am quickly losing faith.

my father heard a story on "the wall street journal this morning" radio show on 550kfyi about people who are suing the banks who are loaning the builders their money to build for pulling the funding they have been given and essentially abandoning communities like whats happening to ours right now...something to look into i guess if anyone is interested
