i too would sign any petition to get these guys out of here....i know one thing that needs to change is allowing people to plant pretty flowers in their yards WITHOUT requiring some huge submittal with pictures and plot diagrams to the HOA...thats ridiculous..to me the fresh look would add curb appeal and drive up property values...our sea of boring sameness is dreary....one thing that cracked me up is i recently asked one of the ladies about plants that are restricted here in tortosa...one of them was oleanders...well...in the section of tortosa i live in...elite communities...that is one of the plants routinely used to landscape the yards with....and ive seen them in several yards...so who is in the wrong there?...elite or the HOA?...morons!....i want to change my landscaping in the frontyard to more of a desert look with small cacti, succulents...and other more drought tolerant species...i was told i have to do this whole plot diagram with pictures and such...meanwhile ive seen homes throughout elite that have weeds taller then some of the actual plants..and im sure they get away with it.....there are tons of homes that have a huge weed issue...mine had quite a few more then id like to see after we had our rain a week or so ago but i was out there 2-3 days spraying and got the yard back under control...i wish others could do the same...my neighbor had some that were so large that though they were not rooted on my property...a lot of the weed was coming over to my yard so i sprayed some of his too...

I didn't realize we can't even simply plant different plants in our front yard! I thought we couldn't change from desert to grass or grass to desert without having to submit for approval, but I thought we could plant different flowers or plants if we wanted to. I know our neighbors did last year, after the freeze last year, planted pretty flowers and I admit, so did we this year, a couple of weeks ago, once I thought the fear of a frost was over, I planted flowers in the front. That is just simply crazy!

I don't even think we should have to have approval for the front, but I know the reasoning is so that people won't let their front yards go to crap, but at the same time, it's my yard and if i want to plant 10 bushes, i should be able to! I think, as long as it's nice and doesn't interfere with anyone else, then who really cares if we have the right flowers or plants! But we did sign the HOA rules.

I'm not digging up my plants. I think they are pretty and they are kept nice. Obviously, if we get a notice, then I'll do what we have to do, but until then, my plants are staying in the front!

I still dont' think Tortosa is the ghetto. We didn't buy our home because the grass was green or the tower was up, we bought our home because we loved the house, thought the neighborhood was quiet and could see living here for awhile. Granted, would be nice to see greener grass and a landscaped tower, but I don't think Tortosa is the ghetto because of these. I do think there are some people who could care less about their homes, but that's everywhere, not just Tortosa.

I love our community and I love our neighborhood.

based on some reading in other HOA's not only do they all have weed issues and lack of HOA enforcement but they also have other similar problems....so i wouldnt say we are a ghetto....in fact some of the posts i read mentioned that their area felt like the ghetto...so we are not alone in our concerns and issues

I know my neighborhood is not getting houses broken into or people spraypainting graffiti on houses so I think we are doing well. Look at the posts in some other neighborhoods.

There aren't any hood rats hanging out in front of Fry's tagging walls or anything yet.

You may not see them but they are there...just last week there was HK13 spray painted all over the sign in front of Teakwoods just off 347.

The hoodrats are alive and well in Maricopa. They just know where to hide.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
