I think the builders didn't like how they were handling things and made the other company leave

i think we got stuck in a worse situation....also...im wondering how much this easter egg hunt is going to cost us in the end?....in my readings and talking to other people around town in different HOA's...it sounds like some of the neighborhoods have a 25% non-compliance of HOA dues...yet the HOA's are not spending the "legal fee" portion on the budgets to go after these people...im sure the same will occur here in Tortosa...they should just eliminate that from our budget and subtract that percentage from our dues accordingly....if they were surprised by the turn out they got this last time we met in the park...wait until the next time they try and raise our dues another 20% without any changes being made on how things are being run and see what happens

I contacted the HOA with complaints about the weeds and also the Christmas lights that I mentioned earlier. They responded to me pretty quickly and explained everything well. This is what they advised me:

"Yes, this is something that the Association will work with the
homeowners to get into compliance. If we do not already have these two
addresses in the violation system, we will get the process going.

So that you are aware of the process, we are on a continual inspection
cycle throughout all of the Tortosa. We inspect mostly on Tuesday's and
Thursday's as these are non trash/recycle collection days.

We started a new cycle in January and just completed going through each
parcel and will begin again. Your parcel was at the beginning of this
cycle. During the rotation, we of course respond to complaints in any
area as they occur.

Additionally, the City of Maricopa has called a joint meeting of the
local Association Manager's to discuss the abundance of abandoned homes
and homes that have an abundance of weeds. The meeting is for all of us
to try and brainstorm and come up with a solution. With the economy the
way it is, all the Associations are facing the same issues. The lack of
maintenance is also a City issue, and they are looking at helping the
Associations find a way to clean up the problem homes. I am hopeful
that a positive solution will come from today's meeting.

No matter the outcome of the meeting, what we do for those who do not
respond to the notices we send, will then be to obtain a cost to clean
up the area and then have the work performed. While our documents allow
us to do this, we do have to be very careful of the process as the legal
system still considers us trespassing. So it is a lot of "hoop jumping"
to get to where we need to be to do this.

I hope that this has answered your questions. If not, or if this has
created more, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to
answer questions. Also, if you would like to take part in an inspection
to get a first hand understanding of the process, please let us know and
we will schedule a time for you to join us.

We are having a Committee Volunteer meeting tomorrow night at 5:30 pm
here at the on-site office (the gray trailer at the entrance of Tortosa)
The two Committee's we are trying to get established are the Covenants
(rule enforcement) and the Architectural (review exterior alteration
applications). If you are interested in either Committee, please come
to the meeting.

It will take us all working together to make Tortosa the Community that
we all want it to be."
