I can't take a cold shower, I turn just the cold water on and it is hot and stays hot, even in the early morning. I had the same problem last year and the water company said not enough pumps, and not enough people were using the lines. Well it is a year later and no improvement, and yes I have checked the thermostat on my water heater. Anybody else having this problem? Thanks

the cold water will return in a few months

I can get cold water from the taps, but not any of the bathtubs or showers. Cold water is the 1 thing I miss from Tempe!

I've lived here my ENTIRE life and it's the 1st time.

My mother and grandmother have said the same thing.

The reason some people have hot water is because you have pipes in the in your ceiling>>at least that is what I heard...its cheaper

You could always run 5 loads of laundry, the dishwasher, the bath...then take a shower after 8pm then maybe you'll tap into that cold water

Bye Bye Maricopa!

The only cold water we have is the water left in the pipes that are "inside" being cooled from the a/c.
So if you turn the water on and just jump in you'll have some for like a minute. Sorry that's the best you get right now. Just wait until it cools off, it will nice and icey for ya. BRrrrrr!

No cold water here either and I too am a Native of AZ and I've always had cold water in the summer. It's driving me nuts. I like washing dark colors in cold water and I can't do that when I have none! We've turned our thermostat on the hot water heater down too. It's just weird. It should get cold after letting it run a minute or so.

My hubbay and I were discussing this and came up with a reason. Maybe...and we're no construction experts or anything but looking back on the construction of our home we remember that the water lines wern't placed very deep in the ground so with the heat and all this maybe why. I'm a native too but I really don't recall having cold water but the houses were built differently back then. I don't know just an idea I thought I'd bounce off on you all.

dragonfly...makes sense to me....

Back east water lines are buried deep below the freeze line... out here they don't have to do that so the pipes conduct the heat from the ground...the result warm water...personally I can't stand it.

After the work day I want to be able to splash cool water on my face...the little cool water left in the pipes is now a high commodity in our home and many a skirmish has broken out on the way to the sink!

No cold water here, only for about 30 seconds (it will be hot when I turn it on the cool off for about 30 seconds and then hot again). I have to run my kids bath and let it cool off before I can even put them in their. I will have ONLY the cold water running and its the exact same as if I was to run strait hot water. The temp was turned down too, and no differance. I hate not having cool water... it kills cause I have 2 dogs and a cat who I have to put ice in their waterbowls cause its hot water.

Good reason to have ice in the fridge door.

the watter supply that feeds our houses is not stored underground at all really. pumps to ponds to tanks it's all exposed to the sun, we'll never really have cool water in the summer. and cool water comming from faucets now, are cooled from sitting in walls in your A/C'd house, thats why it disappears.
