Without pulling out my "rule book", does anyone know off the top of their head if we're permitted to have block parties?

My neighborhood in Tortosa was talking about having one and blocking off "our" street since there are only 3 houses on it and we're the owners and everyone could party, bbq and socialize there.

Is this OK?  Or do we need to get permission from someone?

i'm not sure about the rules when i comes to block parties, how ever i would venture to say that some kind of permit would be required. I would give the ladies a call and ask them (just to play it safe that is)

"Gee Brain, what are we going to do tonight?"

I would say the poster above is correct. You probably just need to call the ladies and there might be a permit to obtain That sounds like a great idea and fun!!

i agree that since the street will be blocked off that a permit may be required otherwise if it wasnt being blocked i dont see why you would need any special permission

Why tell the HOA? It's not like they'll be out looking at the neighborhood....on a holiday no less. Besides, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission!!!

Don't tell the HOA. Don't apply for a permit either. If there are only 3 of you on the street go for it.

We just had a block party in Maricopa Meadows and didn't have a permit. We closed down the street and everyone was cool with it.

The streets are owned by the city not the HOA - so I would ask them. If you allow for traffic to get through then I don't think you would even have to do that.

If I remember correctly from the last HOA meeting, the representative from the Police Department stated that if you did a block party, you just have to notify them so that they know there will not be access to the street.......
