Ok, guys let's get this rolling:

Just a few questions to kick this off:

1.  What is a good time to meet for you guys?

2.  What is a good day of the week to meet?

3.  How often should we meet?  Weekly, every 2 weeks....?  (I'm thinking weekly until things really start happening).

4.  How many people should be on the committee?  That doesn't mean everyone isn't welcome, it's just when it comes to getting specific tasks done, more is not merrier.  lol.  we'll have a way to get ideas/thoughts/concerns to the group that will be easy to use.  Probably a central email.

My house (back yard, maybe inside depends on how many people show up) is available M-Th nights.  The weekends really depend on what is going on.  Does anyone want to volunteer their house as a backup?

Also, please send me what you think our mission statement or purpose should be.  What is the reason(s) we are forming this group?  This will help us focus on the tasks at hand.

That's all i can think of for now.  Feel free to add to this thread as you have ideas regarding this group only please.  We are just going to start at a high level at this point.  Thanks for your attention.  BTW, my name is Bobby in case i haven't mentioned it.

1. I have a really wonky schedule between kids and work and everything... friday is really the only day that I don't have anything.

2. Friday I'd have to bring my kids any day anyway unless we can do something during the few precious child free moments I have during the day during the week...

3. I think maybe weekly to start? We should set up an online place to chat/updates/post ideas/whatever so that it's not constantly on this forum might be a good thing. I can create a group on .mac for us to use... if we're interested in that.

4. Whoever wants to join in. The more the merrier. It'll show we really want something done about this!

I would like to attend mtgs, and help as possible. I have a hard schedule due to my children - you do NOT want them there! So mostly I am am available during the day when I can have only one or two of my kids or LATE evening (7:00) weekdays - minus Weds. OR Saturdays (hopefully in the mornings) I'm not available on Sundays, my life is too hectic that day.

I think there are a lot of people who would want to be involved, but don't come to the forums - we should get word out to them as well. If we are going to make a stink - we may as well start early and start posting signs and stuff. If one person in each neighborhood said they would 'tag' the mailboxes we could let everyone know. . . I know, it is against the 'rules' but they aren't enforced anyway!

We can meet on the weekends or week nights, I am available on the weekday but would have to bring my baby.

2. What is a good day of the week to meet?
Any day really, except for Monday nights - soccer practice!

3. How often should we meet? Weekly, every 2 weeks....? (I'm thinking weekly until things really start happening). Weekly sounds great!

4. How many people should be on the committee? That doesn't mean everyone isn't welcome, it's just when it comes to getting specific tasks done, more is not merrier. lol. we'll have a way to get ideas/thoughts/concerns to the group that will be easy to use. Probably a central email.
Not sure how many people, I guess it would depend on how many tasks need attending to and how time consuming they will be. I am a stay at home mom, so I have some extra time that I would be willing to share!

Thanks for starting this and taking the initiative! I really hope that we can change some things around here and make our neighborhood better!

I can meet at or after 7:30pm most tuesdays and wednesdays.

Weekly is fine to start.

Without knowing what our outline of priorities/tasks looks like, it's hard to say how many people will be needed.  Not too much help on this one, sorry!

Hello!

I'm going to answer your questions short & sweet:

1) Time to meet:                                      between 6-7pm (as of right now)

2) Day of week to meet:                         Any week day

3) How often:                                            Weekly is a must to start!

4) How many on a committee:              unkn @ this time

*My home will not accomodate alot of people.

*Mission Statement/Purpose: Together @ Tortosa?

(I'm trying....but we do have to pull together...we are a community and we need to stand as one).

My name is Gina...and thank you Bobby for putting this thread together...

nicely done!

I got this off of the thread posted by Pizzaking...he listed a site for us to review..HOA Link on 3/17/08...

***I take the BOLD below as a hint!?***

GET INVOLVED AT YOUR LEGISLATURE!   YOUR LEGISLATORS WILL DO NOTHING UNLESS DEMANDED BY NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, WITH DETAILS, ABOUT HOA ABUSE OR VIOLATIONS OF STATE LAWS  OR THE GOVERNING DOCUMENTS.

Let's get some AGENDA items on the table.  I don't think we should get too detailed at first because i think once we start discussing things on this thread as well as meetings, will probably blaze a path of their own.

Some suggestions:  Purpose, identifying tasks, assigning tasks, CC&Rs, HOA rules, going over the financial breakdown handed out over the summer, centralizing incoming and outgoing communications to the rest of Tortosa (centralized email, group PR representative, etc.).

80s Chick:  thanks for jumping in.  What i meant by mission statement was maybe a sentence or 2 about our purpose and direction as a group.  It's a tough one but it's essential to help us gel and focus on what's good for all of us living in Tortosa.

Once I get a few more details, we'll get this thing planned.

I think the first thing we need to figure out is where all of our $$$$$ is going each month!  I don't know about all of you, but for as many notices and fines that are being assessed and should be being paid, our street looks like sh**!!!!

Just a quick question? Did the management company turn over the HOA to us (the owners)?

If not what is the purpose of this group?

Can you be more specific?

I’m up for making our community look crisp and clean, but isn’t this why we by BIG BUCKS to our (not so) Beloved HOA?

We need to get a hold of the management company, not the cute ladies in the trailer. I am talking there supervisors. And if they don’t want to listen then we need to take our complaint to the Home Builders. I am guessing her,e but they must be paying some kind of HOA dues to keep up the appearance of their unsold houses. It would be in there best interest to get involved. If they desire to ever sell there homes.

...And the list grows.  No, they haven't turned it over to us.  I'm not sure of the percentage but i know there is a ways to go on selling enough homes.  I think we probably have to start with the ladies in the trailer.  If nothing gets done, then we can start escalating it.  I feel we should follow their protocol at first to show we aren't going to be that hostile.  But, if we don't get answers or results, we'll get our plan of attack/ducks in a row together ahead of time so we're not caught off guard.  And no, it shouldn't involve torches and pitch forks...  LOL.  Baby steps...

Thanks movinonup, I like the Idea of "Torches & Pitch Forks", but I think I will use that as a last resort.

I am up for helping in anyway I can
