LOL.....that's the point you don't see them till it's too late. LOL

I love the fact that the Villages is doing this. More communities should do the same thing...of course as funds can allow.

Asking because the Villages paid for the new bikes and no one has seen them in use and we were wondering what happened to them

When I talked to the Officer he mentioned that it was a once a week patrol and that they would be doing the back areas where kids hang out.

Once a week for how long? What a waste of money if that is all they are going to do. Didn't they buy two bikes?

They are who we thought they were!

Call your board members and ask them. I'm only passing on the information that I was given.

They need to patrol the basketball courts! I have seen so many kids coming over from Senita to play on our courts. That, eventually, will only cause problems.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

As long as they are not guests then your right they are trespassing. If so noted you can call the police and report it.

It would be interesting to find out how many days they have acutally patrolled in the Villages since we bought the bikes. And why would you confine yourself only to where the kids hang out? Where ever that is. I think we have more problems in the club house area. Plus the citizens of the Villages should see some return in their investment and should see the officers riding up and down our streets as a deterant to crime and not just hiding in the bushes where the kids hang out. It would also be interesting to know what activities they have been involved with while on patrol., do they keep a log while on bike patrol? If we are not getting anything back in our investment I believe we should get the bikes abck and give them to MPD where they could form their own Bike Patrol Unit and use the bikes city wide. At least they would be used and put to good use.

I and others have posted on the Villages website and we can not get any answers on when the bikes are used or if they have even been used since no one has seen them. Can not get an answer on if they will be turned over to MPD either..............

Now I am interested in finding out if they patrol enough. .Two bikes at a cost of $2500 I think. I was just thinking about that.

"Where are the Patrol bikes?"

I for sure would like them to write people tickets for taking shopping carts from fry's and leaving them in the area. I just saw one today outside of Sagecrest.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I think we have a better chance of seeing the abandoned shopping carts than the police on bikes right now! LOL

It takes a special kind of stupid for someone to believe that it is a good idea for HOA's to purchase vehicles (and bikes are considered vehicles) for a police department. Even more stupid is to purchase them for a police department that is being phased out of the city. The PCSO is only on patrol in Maricopa for the graveyard shift, and that's only going to last probably a few more months. The MPD has taken over the day and swing shifts. Yet they somehow think that purchasing bikes for the PCSO is a good use of our money? Is there some sort of contract that guarentees that they will patrol at hours that actually have a chance of being useful? And why would we want the PCSO patroling our neighborhood rather than the MPD patrolling our neighborhood. What does the MPD think of this idea? Did anyone bother to find out if this is something that our cities police department thinks is a good idea?

Wow. Harsh Tigg. Are you still participating in block watch? I am sure they could use your help.

Yes, it's harsh - with the issues going on, purchasing vehicles for law enforcement is stupid. Regardless of any other issues, tax dollars, not HOA fees, should fund police departments. And - at least, if they're going to do something like this, it should be in cooperation with the MPD, not the outgoing PCSO.

Did anyone see the patrols out last night? Are these patrols being switched over to MPD once PCSO is phased out?

They are who we thought they were!
