Alert | How many Trick or Treaters do you expect this year at your door?
Also, do you think there is an appropriate age for Trick or Treaters???

Alert | We had about 50 kids last year and had a great time seeing all the creative costumes they were wearing.
I don't think there is an age limit for trick or treating - but they need to be in costume. | | Temporary full time wedding planner and mom-in-law to be.............

Alert | | There is no age limit on treat or treating but I hate seeing the older kids out on this night. I think once they hit a certain age (maybe jr high) you need to let the younger kids have the night to have fun. There's really nothing cute about a 15 year old coming to your door in a goth costume.

Alert | Those are costumes? I saw a few jr. high kids that were wearing that the other day?
I think it is pathetic...where are their parents? I am all about allowing your kids to be themselves but what is with this "emo" thing? I don't get it. | | Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference. Unknown

Alert | Don't you think them knocking on your door for candy is better than egging your house because they are bored???

Alert | Yes, this Emo crap scares me! My daughter attends the Kyrene School Dist and she's in 8th grade. The Emo thing is becoming more popular and I HOPE it's just a Junior High issue. NO SHE DOESN'T DRESS IT! OVER MY DEAD BODY! But I have noticed some interest that she has in it.
But back to the subject at hand......I'll prepare for around 50 knocks at my door! My kids are 8&15, so they are pushing the age, but are staying home to pass out candy! We'll make it fun for them too! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! BE SAFE!!

Alert | I don't mind high school kids Trick-or-Treating as long as their in costume. No costume, no candy is my rule.
What I mind more is the kids who are too young to walk & talk - under 2, it's just adults trick-or-treating (and the adults with infants are rarely in costume and usually are carrying a pillow case).
I'd rather have a teenager in a costume come to the door than an adult with no costume carrying an infant who is too young to actually enjoy the experience or eat any of the candy! The teenagers that I usually see in costume are having fun and enjoying dressing up and going out just as much as (and sometimes more than) the elementary school kids. I say the appropriate age range is 2-17 - and only if in costume for all ages.

Alert | Very good point Tigg. That's exactly why I left it up to my kids this year. I told them they are only a child ONCE, so make the best of it. They both chose to pass out candy this year, so that made it simple.
Last year in Racho El Dorado, it was NUTS! It wasn't the kids acting crazy, it was the parents/adults! Adults fighting, drinking/smoking and driving crazy speeding down the streets with very small children around. We had to wrap it up early last year.
I have a feeling it won't be like that in the Villages.

Alert | When I lived in California, I lived in a neighborhood with some very tough teenagers (gang-bangers, street-wise, tough kids). These high school kids would go trick-or-treating w/o costumes, just being tough kids out looking for candy. When they came to my door, I always told them that if they wanted candy, they had to come back in costume. Almost ever single one of them would go home, pull together some sort of costume and come back. AND most of them would thank me telling me that they were having more fun in costume than they'd thought they would.
It was amazing what those guys could come up with on the spur of the moment just for a bite sized piece of candy (or 2)

Alert | It doesn't matter to me how old anyone is when they come to the door. They are out having fun. We have tricks and treats to give, I'll give until it gone. That's why we have it. Besides, the kids come back with more to replace it.lol
I've taken all 3 of mine out since they were small. They all go in costume. They may not remember it later, but Mom and Dad do.
My youngest is almost 3. I expect him have more fun now.
When I was a kid, it was a contest about the tricks and treats. But, I don't even remember those anymore. I remember my step dad taking us (3) around the neighborhood and the fun I had with my younger brothers.
The same is true, now. I don't take them for the tricks and treats. I take them because I have fun watching them have fun. They may come back home and show what they have, but it reminds me that I did the same with my family, too.
