I was in the Clubhouse the other day and noticed a very nice Range Rover parked in the NO PARKING area up front. When the gentleman left, I asked the lady manager (didn't get her name, but he came out of her office on the right side of the foyer) why she didn't say anything to him about parking there.

Her reply : "He is on the HOA board and can park there if he likes."

So, the 'rules' that everyone else abides by aren't for board members?

Good to know we have such a wonderful management company and board members setting the example!

That's just wrong. The board is suppose to set the examples.

Can't ask someone to do something if your not willing to do it yourself.

Hey I have an idea....Let's send them a warning letter with a 50.00 fine in it!

He is on the board. He does not have to pay fines. Those are for the 'little people', who aren't on the board.

There is a big difference between parents dropping kids off for a few minutes and in being parked and in a closed-door meeting in the manager's office.

And THEN telling another resident that 'he can park there because he is on the board'.

Seeing as the manager doesn't abide by the rules in this instance, it is only logical to conclude that they are exempt from the other rules, as well.

heuertwo: I'm interested in getiing to the bottom of this -- identify the board member and the management person. Also, what was this 'HOA" person doing? Unloading something that might be heavy to carry from a distance, just parking for convenience, or unknown?

hey heuertwo -- still waiting for the name of this "HOA board" person. And you don't know the name of the "lady manager"? That's interesting. I'm wondering if this "lady manager" is in fact the property manager and will corroborate the quote that you attriibute to her. Were you the only one who witnessed this? Did you see this "HOA board" person enter, that is, do you know for sure that he wasn't carrying something, or did you even inquire as to whether there was a reason he parked there? Maybe instead of "no parking" the sign should state "delivery parking only" to allow for reasonable exceptions to a strict "no parking". When was "the other day" that you were "in the clubhouse" and witnessed this?

C'mon now, you have made an accusation and I'm with you if you can supply some real information that will enable us to confirm your story and address the alleged offender directly. But for now this story is incomplete.
