We just moved here about a month ago and since moving in our home phone has gone 'down' twice, internet with the phone, and our cable has gone out once. Does this happen to anyone else???

We have a horrible time with our wireless internet, always losing connection. Other than that, no phone problems.

I first moved into VRED in late 2004 and at first the Internet and such seemed fine, however sometime in 2005 as more people started to move in the internet service started to get really slow. I have since moved off Orbitel to Qwest DSL and have had no more problems at least with speed, I still go down once in a while (seems to be from 2pm to 3pm) for some reason that just does not bother me as much as the speed does.

We have some speed issues. But we don't loose connection much more that anyone else..

It's just bad here in the Copa for these types of services.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

to be blunt, Orbitel sucks! Don't even bother checking email, downloading anything or looking at the internet in the evenings, or on weekends when more people around...at that point it feels like I am back to the 56K modem. Good luck with yours!!!! I've been here for a few years and it's gotten worse and worse.

Wow. I have Orbitel and have not had any issues with them at all. I use the Internet very heavily at all times of the day and night and it's been fine.

We use Qwest (DSL) for our Internet and have very little problems.

Internet problems? Had to post this twice because of a lost connection. Orbital had better get it together or I am gonna dump this Mickey Mouse company.

We had a lot of problems with Orbitel and we've had zero problems with our DSL connection. Our DSL is so much quicker and more reliable than Orbitel was.

the only time I notice a prolem is when I am trying to play my online game... other than that... No problems.

(sometimes I get DC'd... but is it the games fault or the cable company?)

umtech,

What speeds do you normally see with Qwest? It sounds like Qwest is offering VDSL over in cobblestone farms, but the best they can do in the villages is ADSL. I'm considering checking out ADSL to see if it's any better than Orbitel cable; I don't see how it could be any worse?? Though Orbitel claims up to 6mbit down, I've only seen about 2-3mbit on average with the occasional peak to 4mbit/s. Kind of a bummer considering i was getting 12-13mbit/s with cox consistently, with peaks up to about 22mbit/sec. Hopefully Orbitel increases their capacity soon to support Maricopa's growth.

When I first moved here in 04, I had orbitel, speed was 5 meg down and like 79k up or something like that it was fine for about a year and then got slower and slower and every call was "its not our problem even when I could trace route and show them that its a router out there doing this. Anyways my DSL is 7 meg down and 768k up and off hours evenings, nights, and mornings I can max it out at all 7 meg during rush hour times at 4-7pm I get about 5.5 megs. Qwest is ADSL as I have that just call it DSL.

Are there any other options for cable and internet out here besides Orbitel? When is Cox going to get out here?

They are who we thought they were!

QWEST and Maricopa Broad Band are the only other two options...and depending on what HOA you live in....can determine what you can get .... i know our HOA in Tortosa has a contract with MBB and if we go with anything else we will still be paying for MBB whether we use it or not
