Ok does anyone know if we are allowed to have solar panels installed on our house? i have heard that the goverment has steped in and said that they can not prevent you from putting them up?where i would be mounting them no one would really see since the back of my house butts up to altera south  I dont think there really all that bad and im sure not going to be staring at my roof. Plus it cant be any uglier then all the dead plants and weeds and trash in everyones yard lol.

To be on the safe side send your request in to the architectural committee for review.

Actually jeeptj02, I know someone who can install enough solar panels to completely replace ED3! We have been going back and forth with ED3 and they are not real keen on the idea of having somehting like that replace their services (even though the regular "cutomer servise reps" are asking me for more information lol).

I don't think that the HOA could really say much of anything if those panels are in a place that would not necessarily detract from the "curb appeal" of the other homes on your street! In other words, if you have those panels on the back of your home or in your back yard, they really have no say as long as the people living behind you don't complain, which they shouldn't!

The state statue trumps all governing documents and the statue allows any homeowner to install solar panels without any approval from the HOA's.

Some HOA's have tried to fight it but have lost.  But you can take "takingabreak" advice and send in a AC submittal just to advise them that you are having them install and by whom.  This will show them that everything will be done within safety guidelines.

I would love to be able to install them myself.....they're just a bit out of my price range though.

Here twostep try this website this is who will be doing my solar panels. they basicly lease the system to you for 1 year 5 years or 25 years. The advantage to leaseing them longer is you lock in the rate now because prices are going to increase over the life of the system. so 25 would be the best bet also with 25 year lease you are allowed one free move and they install everything and maintain the system for you and also keep track of your usage to add or remove panels. typically it runs about 100 a month for the lease. heres the website http://renu.citizenre.com/

Question:
Are solar panels hard to maintain?
Do you use them 24/7 if not then when?
Do they only work for parts of your home, or anywhere?

Bye Bye Maricopa!

On that site it talked like your electric company must participate in net metering, which ED3 does not. Does this disqualify Maricopa from participating in this project?

Yeah im not sure if ED3 is still not offering net programs basicly this allows you to bank up any unused power to offset for overages in say the summer months but i dont think this would disqualify us. it would just suck because your producing more power then your usage and not getting crap for it.
