we are on joceyln lane in summerwind and just wondering if anyone does block parties... we hardly know our neighbors and it would be so nice to have one. It's our first house and always wanted to be close with my neighbors but most of them seem disinterested.

We don't live in Summerwind. But why don't you make some fliers and either deliver them or leave them at your neighbors house........just start one, I am sure someone would show up !! We are also looking to meet other couples if you want too.................pm me.

We had one last year in the Sagecrest area. I heard it was a blast... I was somewhere else when it was going on.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

thanks good idea, though I doubt my direct neighbors will show because they are reclusive and unfriendly sorry to say. Also, I just read that the city is now enforcing rules and regulations on block parties?? Are they going to enforce rules on wiping our behinds too?? They enforce rules where they are not needed and don't when they are.

It think most cities enforcie rules on block parties. I was shocked when I heard Copa didn't have any. I don't think the rules are too strict but you have to file a request or something. My friends in Glendale area had to do it all the time..........Good luck

I live in the Villages (Sagecrest) and think this would be a great idea.

Get a couple grills together and fire em up.

I'm up for it.

When we purchased our home in the Villages it was like the 3rd house on the street, so not long after we moved in we had a 'greet your neighbor' BBQ. It was great and provided a relaxed casual environment to meet the neighbors. We even took short tours of everyone's homes (LOL). Although some of our neighbors have since moved, we now have friendships and extra sets of eyes to help watch out for each other and our property. I definately suggest everyone get to know their neighbors.

hey all!
sorry i didn't post again since the first one... i've been off the forum for a few weeks... anyway... it's been kinda on the cooler side so maybe waiting a few months for an actual block party would be a good idea, but..... we all live in the villages and I would like to meet others there... why don't we plan an event... my husband and I can host a b-bque at our house if you'd like if you BYOB and maybe a side dish. Or, we can meet at that park.
If you'd like to get together, email me at nankjay@aol.com rather than from this site, as it takes a while to load and I don't always check my email here. Please put block party in the subject as I get so much spam these days.
My hubbie and I would LOVE to meet some other villagers even if they're not on our block.
Hope to meet soon!!

I think the park would be a great place to have it! We would come! We live in Veranda on the south side of Edison(street parallel to Fry's). Let me know what day and time you decide!

I live in the Summerwind area also on Snow Dr. and kind of feel the same way about the neighbors. Only one of my neighbors really ever talks to us, another one says hi every once in a while, and I say hi to some kids that play hockey in the street every now and then. A block party would be awesome I would be all for it. We should get together when the weather permits!!!

sorry.. i started this thread and haven't been on the forum for a while due to a health crisis

when the weather gets a bit nicer, perhaps next month, we should plan something... i am sick of not knowing my neighbors when there are so many wonderful people to meet here

I wonder if they would let us use the clubhouse for a get together but the park might be nicer.
