I swear, every day this week and last, on the way home there is someone in the left lane going 5-20 MPH under the speed limit. And the right lane is going even slower! Would it kill you people to go over or speed up? <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/angry.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Angry' align='absmiddle'>

Yeah, don't you people ever look in the rear view mirror and notice the mile of cars waiting to get by you?

It is maricopa residents doing thier own version of slowing people down. While in the fast lane, pace the car in the slow lane doing 5-20 under and watch traffic back-up. I get caught 2-3 times a week in and out of town.

I also had another idea on how to do our own speed control. Today I observed 99% of people who don't seem to know how to drive when it rains. We can install sprinklers down the middle of 347 for continuous water fall. People drive a minimum of 20 under when it rains. Less speeding = happier people.....right?

Yeah, I know some people ARE trying to slow others down by deliberately driving slowly in the left lane, keeping exact pace with the car next to them. They apparently think it would do everyone a little good to slow down. Unfortunately some people have lives to attend to, jobs to get to, etc. and do not wish to go 55-65. If you don't like that, too bad; when someone flies past me doing 90 I figure at least they'll get pulled over before I do as I'm going 80 (this very thing happened to me recently--this super-speeder saved me from a ticket as he got pulled over instead). Anyway, it just annoys me because it is not another driver's job to make sure everyone goes the speed they feel is right; I am not impeding you from going under the speed limit (just stay in the right lane), so why should you impede others who want to go faster?

No if it was raining I would consider it somewhat acceptable seeing how flat-landers cant drive in the rain

You sound like you feel just terrible for what you've done. Jeez, I hate to see what you'd do to your kids if they ever messed up or faultered if you run a car off the road for not meeting your speed requirements. That's terrible, you should be ashamed of yourself. They shouldn't have had a bad day, you should have. (most people would feel bad about having done that)

Well this car was doing 50 trying to pace a concrete truck (which was obvious because he would speed up and slow down) I just wanted to get around him. I feel so bad (haha) and so do the rest of the people that just followed my lead!

Wow...what if it was just an elderly person who wasn't intentionally trying to pace anyone, they just didn't drive well? You know, not everyone on the 347 (or in the world) is out to get you. I cannot believe that you would laugh at what you did. That's horrible. Please tell me you don't have little kids in your car that are learning from you.

no actually this guy gave me the finger a couple times. He wasn't an old man (I could see him) and if you drive slow (pace the car in the right lane) in the left lane you should expect this ha ha ha. A couple cars passed on the shoulder but i didnt want to put myself at risk. No I didnt have any kids in my car if I did I would be doing the speed limit in the RIGHT lane. I dont feel sorry for idiots that think they are the law and want everyone to do 50 because they feel its safe. If you drive slow in the left lane prepare for the worst!!

Good for you!

Please run the rest of these idiots off the road, so they can't reproduce.

Right on beowulf. I would have no regrets either. People in the left lane that pace people in the right lane need to learn to get out of the way. They should truly expect the worst when they have a pile of cars just waiting to get around them. They are causing the driving conditions to be more dangerous for everyone.

I almost want to give these people a taste of their own medicine. Pass one going 55 or 60 in the left lane, get in front and then slow to 45, then speed up to 50, then slow to 40. Slam on the brakes randomly. Block them in and see how they like it!

Almost.

If that's the case, maybe they shouldn't be driving. They are actually the ones putting everyone else's lives at risk. I hope you don't drive behind or around someone like that with little kids in the car. I wouldn't advocate running someone off the road on purpose, but honestly, maybe this person needed that to learn that they're not the only people on the road. On a busy highway like the 347, if you cannot drive faster than 55-65, or cannot see well/drive well, whatever, YOU DO NOT BELONG IN THE LEFT LANE!! How is that so hard to understand? You are a road hazard if you're blocking everyone else. Don't even get me started on people who slam on their brakes every 3 minutes with no one in front of them....

Most of the time I see the driver is either:

A) A mom or dad trying to console their children, dig things up off the floor or other attention grabbing activities.

B) On the cell phone, often gesturing and yelling.

C) Talking to their passenger.

D) Can barely see over the steering wheel.

I have seen some elderly blocking the left lane and they are almost as dangerous as those listed above. Granted, it's no reason to run someone off the road, but usually people that are driving in the left lane on 347 don't belong there (or on the road, period). At least, that's my experience during rush hour.

The most frustrating ones are the ones that have no one else in the car, are not on the phone, appear to be concentrating on their driving and still, honking and flashing of lights does nothing. They are oblivious, and I can't figure out why!

What about people that pass on the right at very high speeds? That is pretty dangerous as well. For instance yesterday I was in the left land doing 75mph and passing a lot of cars in the right lane, so i was going well above the average flow of traffic. However there were people who wanted to drive 90 and would pass me on the right and the weave back into the left lane with little room to spare? They should be arrested.

It sounds like you had someone behind you in the left lane that was going faster than you. If you are not passing you move to the right lane. It sounds like he wanted to pass but you just sat in the left lane instead of moving over. Next time if someone like this approaches you should move into the right lane and not hold up traffic.
