April 2008 Special Announcement

Inaugural fast track program project receives permits in record time.

Maricopa, Ariz. (April 22, 2008) – Residents soon will be able to enjoy the results of a new City development program in the form of Big Macs, fries and a play area for kids.

McDonald’s USA, the first commercial project to enter into the newly created Fast Track development program, has received its permits, and as a result will be able to open sooner and have a greater economic impact on the community.

Created by the Maricopa City Council in December 2007, the Fast Track program is the City’s first of several economic development tools designed to deliver a more business-friendly environment by allowing businesses to relocate and expand in the community rapidly and efficiently. To qualify for fast track program consideration, a project must meet a series of economic benefit criteria related to positive overall economic impact to the community.

Businesses that deliver these economic benefits, and which have properly zoned and platted projects submit an application along with an economic impact statement. If they qualify, they can obtain Fast Track status, which means an expedited review process, and focused assistance in the coordination of all necessary parties in whatever frequency necessary.

McDonald’s USA was admitted into the Fast Track program on January 29, submitted construction drawings on March 1oth and received plan approval on March 24th. On April 14th, project representatives paid for and picked up their permits. Through the Fast Track program, the development services department committed to a 10 business day plan review turn around time while a typical project of this nature could take up to 20 business days for a review.

Trent Rustan of Cole Investment Advisors says "Maricopa's new fast-track program really made the permitting process easier for our buyer. It's a great tool for helping bring new businesses to town." McDonald’s will be built within the Shops at Maricopa Fiesta center (south of Bashas).

For more information on the Fast Track Program, visit the City website at Maricopa-az.gov.

Is the Mc Donalds what broke ground today between the AM Trust bank and Tutor Time? They just started something right between those two today. Any idea?

I thought that this is where it was supposed to go. Can anyone confirm, this is the designated location for our future McD's?

I heard the city made them "downsize" there building and to not allow RV parking...They dont want Maricopa to be a REST STOP...

this is the reason it is a Small McDonald's and not SUPERsized

Sorry Stink, this is not correct.  The footprint looks small but it's supposed be to a decent size.
