Has anyone tried the lemonade diet? Did it work for you? How long did you do it for? I have heard good things about it but I don't know if I could last the 10 days on it.

I don't think that I would recommend fad diets like this. I just don't think that they are healthy.

Hi MustLoveDogs,

I did try this and after the 4th day I had to quit, as it made me very dizzy and lightheaded. It made it impossible to work because I could not focus on anything but food! LOL. I know it is willpower over anything, but I was so hungry I would have eaten paper! I also found it very difficult to do any of my normal daily tasks, such as working out, due to lack of energy. I know others may disagree and it will vary with each person’s body.

On a serious note though, I think it is better as a cleansing tool for your body than a diet to lose weight. I know they say you can lose a lot of weight in 10 days, but from what I also hear the weight is easily gained back once you resume normal eating. Also, the lemonade concoction was nasty. I had to choke this down each time. It is a blend of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and syrup. In my opinion, it didn’t resemble the taste of lemonade at all, as there is not much lemon flavor in the drink. Also, you have to use Natural Grade A syrup, which is not like the typical sugary syrup everyone is used to, so it has a funky taste.

If you are still interested in doing it, I have a book called the Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs. He is the guy that came up with the diet, and it may be something good for you to read before doing it.

I have read the book, but thank you. I am just not sure if I can drink the concoction. It does not sound good at all. Two girls at my work are trying the diet. I am going to wait to see how they do on it first. Thanks for the info. It was helpful.

My husband has done this a couple times. He usually only does it about 4 days (by choice). I know this is a great way to flush your system out. A form of detoxing your body. I don't know how anyone can drink that stuff. I read the book, too. I think it is a great program, but it isn't one for me. Good luck, if you decide to do it.

I was just on it a couple of weeks ago. I was on it for 2 wks and lost 10lbs. The lemonade diet is really a cleansing that obviously reduces weight. But I will try it again. Had to quit because came down with a cold/sore throat.

If you have a lot of weight to lose (>20lbs) you'll probably see results, but that weight will be put back on easily. If you are near your goal weight you probably won't see your weight drop too much, but it may help to jump start a healthy eating/excercising program. So, as a cleanse, it would be a good way to start a new program but it's definitely not in your best interest to use it as the whole diet. Your body would just undermine your efforts in the end anyway. Willpower IS the key, but not to starve yourself. You just need it to make consistant, good choices.

all right, maybe stress had something to do with it, but i started making dinner for my husband and myself, doling out a normal portion, then dividing it in half on the plate. After I ate the half, I would go outside in the yard, walk around for 4 whole minutes... seriously, it's longer than it sounds, and try to convince myself that I really needed the other half of the food. Do you know what? I wanted it all the time, but I was NEVER hungry when I got up and walked away for a bit. I lost 35 lbs that way! (I did do situp cheat crunches occasionally). There is no magic diet, just seriously THINK about what you're eating AT THE EXACT SAME TIME that you're actually eating it. OH, brush your teeth right after dinner, and chew some gum instead of dessert.... I swear.... it works... you won't snack....

That's funny, because I actually enjoyed the lemonade drink, it was the sea salt that I had to force myself to do every morning! The syrup that you use it actually very good, it's pure maple syrup and can be found at Trader Joes. Sadly our taste buds have become so used to the cheap processed foods that anything 'good' and 'natural' for us, we turn our noses up to (LOL)...

The diet is a cleansing diet and a great way to detox your body. As for the excercises it strictly states that yo do not excercise during this time since you are detoxing your body. You will have flu like symptoms in the beginning and you will feel like crap...but if you HOLD ON it will pass and you will actually feel 200% better than before. The weight lost is just an added bonus to what you are throwing out of your body. Try it....do it for your self...

Personally I have to tell you that it helped me greatly with my headaches that I used to get! After doing this, on like the 5 or 6th day, man it was like a whole new world and I wasn't getting headaches! Wonderful.....
