What is up with all the traffic leaving RED in the mornings? Today it took me over 10 minutes just to turn onto 347. In the 2 1/2 years that I have lived here, I don't remember it being this bad. I am really hoping it's a temporary thing but I am afraid that that's not the case. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/sad.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Sad' align='absmiddle'>

It gets bad before then. I leave around 6:40 and it takes me at least 10 minutes to get through that mess. It wasn't like that last year or the year before that.

They've got plenty of room there, they should just stripe a 1/4 mile acceleration lane and put in a permanent green right arrow.

Then everyone from the Villages, Lakes at RED, Tortosa, and Homestead would cut through RED!

They need to make a deal with UofA and make a cut through road to Casa Blanca that is available for people to use.

if i leave at 6:25 its smooth sailing, leave at 6:30 and i sit for a bit. i wonder there are a lot of people from villages using RED's exit to try to avoid some traffic and lights, like the clowns that are cutting behind the businesses to get north faster...

I always thought RED should be a gated community!

I have to admit that I'm in there in the mornings, but I carpool and pick up two kids there. Around 7am it takes me about 6-8 minutes to get out onto 347. If people are cutting through RED to avoid coming through town then they are silly. I have driven from AC straight out (didn't have to pick up kids) and it was basically the same amount of time to get through the lights.

Everyone from tortosa is cutting through RED instead of waiting in line at Honeycut, the line at Honeycut is twice as long as RED entrance

Wow, someone has been reading my mind for uhm the last freaking 3 months?! or so!! I am getting just so ticked off by the lines. I saw someone yesterday morning taking pics of the traffic, so I wonder if he will bring it to the HOA meeting... Can we please discuss a gated community?! It really is making a difference on the morning commuters in RED, and it sucks. [breathe...] okay. there, I said it, now I am done. Thank ya!

you may want to look into gates communities a bit before you harp that they are great. back east there were a few gated communities that were infested with gangs. the police can not patrol gated communities like they do open communities. so, no police presence and cheap housing behind a gate isn't as safe as many people think.

besides all that, are RED's streets maintained and owned by the HOA or the city? i would be pissed if my tax dollars to fix public streets was being used behind a gate.

if people from other communities are using public streets to get to a destination they are doing no wrong. private property is a different story.

Jason Yep. The police are patrolling the various different communities. I even so one in Cobblestone with a radar gun.

Well with all the traffic now in RED I wouldn't think it is much of a short cut. What's wrong with smith enke? Wouldn't that be better for them? I don't think we can gate the community considering all the schools that we have that the other communities use. Also the golf course is a public course.

My issue with this...can you please stop trying to play "chicken" with me? I work in Maricopa I live 1/2 block from Rancho entrance...I go back towards Vincent and then take Sm.Enke...IF the cars trying to get around the line of cars aren't on my side of the road...AND talking on their cell phones. Next time I may play the "Chicken" game and hit you head on YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD IT IS AGAINST THE LAW!!

This statement Kimberly, would be false. The fine folks in Tortosa take Porter over to Smith Enke and wait there. Honeycutt is never a good option being that close to the MCG Highway turnoff and the blind corner. Dont try to blame Tortosa for your traffic nightmares, Im sure some cut through, but who's to say they arent from the other communities East of RED?

I was being facetious. I have seen them in RED too, parked illegally on the sidewalk looking for speeders.
