You know who you are. Thanks for changing your contract with Waste Management. Now I have one trash day and one recycling day, for $2/mo more than when I had two trash days. On top of that now I get to pay an extra $8/mo for a second trash can since there is no way all our trash is going to fit in one tiny can each week. But hey, at least I get to think of the cleaner enviornment while I'm spending an extra $10/mo than I should be.

Makin' their way,

That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

I'm all for the environment and going green but when they made the recycle switch I was not happy, then when we got a kick in the wallet to boot that was just insulting.

I've been looking for other options and B & J Disposal is who I plan on calling this week and see if they can start picking up our trash. Not sure if they have mandatory recycle though?

Only good part about having private companies for things like trash services; is being able to switch to another company.

Thank them for also requiring us to have Orbitel Cable. Can't wait until we take over and give people the choice to get their own cable, satellite, or nothing at all.

Every major city in Arizona has one day trash disposal and one day recycling (Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Tucson, etc.). These cities charge between $17.41 per month (Tempe) to $24.45 per month (Phoenix).

I have Maricopa Broadband and they just discount there service for glennwilde so you are not paying twice for basic. They have also been great to work with.

Yes I have MB also in Richmond's neighborhood and really enjoy them, plus with the discount you can't go wrong.

I made a post about them in General about replacing my cable lines in my front yard, great company.

I really wish Cox Cable could be available out here.

Anyone having email issues with Orbitel? My email keeps timing out and asking for my password. Once I hit ok it goes through....Seems like this started after I added my wireless mouse. Anyone else having email issues??

I have Directv. I tried Orbitel basic service but the picture was terrible on my LCD. Most HOA's have "deals" with cable companies. It's a good deal if you use it but is stinks if you don't.

What the heck are you people doing? I have a family of 4 and we rarely fill out our garbage can for even one weekly pick up and our recycle bin is usually about 1/3 to 1/2 full max. I believe some of the other communities are doing this as well, not just Glennwilde.

Thanks,
Higgs

Thank you Higgs! Yes, other Maricopa communities have converted to 1 day trash and 1 day recycle -- Maricopa Meadows, Tortosa, Santa Rosa, Desert Passage, and the Villages. As mentioned in my previous reply, every major city in Arizona has 1 day trash and 1 day recycle pick-up per week and they pay a lot more than Maricopans do.

I don't care what every other city in Arizona charges, I live in Maricopa and already pay rediculous amounts for water and electricity, I expect a break somewhere.

When we lived in Gilbert we had one trash/recycle day per week, but I also only paid about $50/mo for water, sewer, trash and recycling; my water/sewer bill alone in Maricopa is about $100, factor in trash and recycling and that's another $25/mo. For that much money you'd think my electricity comes from a gold bar and water is the piss of Jesus himself or something.

So you want Waste Management to give you a discount because Global Water charges too much? If you can convince them let me know, cause I would like to get on this plan as well.

Thanks,
Higgs

I am the oddball here. I actually like having the recycling bin. As we do recycle in our house, we have less trash and more recyling, filling up each can about 3/4 full weekly. I used to go to the recycling center weekly and this has really saved me money with these gas prices. $10 doesn't seem to break the bank in our house. It is definitely Global water and the electricity (even with all the energy saving lightbulbs, energy star appliances, etc.) Thanks for the tip on Maricopa Broadband though. Back a few months ago the told us that we couldn't get it on our street, so I will check with them again.

I'm a fan as well. It seems that everyone buys mostly packaged foods anyway so the cardboard, cans and plastics can be recycled.

What day is trash and recycling on? Just want to know so when we move next month I'm prepared to switch out service from RED.

The recycling is wonderful. Anyone who generates more than one dumpster of trash in a week needs to learn how to cook.

Thanks Katie!! We are scheduled to close on the 13th. Just in time for Christmas. I'm getting really excited and nervous at the same time.

Wow jcol85239, that's harsh!

I cook every night and can barely close the lid some weeks on my garbage. I too am an avid recycler, so the recycle can is full every week also.

I also have two dogs and a cat as well as a baby in diapers, I hope my neighbors don't think any less of me because my garbage pail is full.
