Without incriminating your self has anyone got a Photo Radar ticket from the DPS since they have been using it on the 347? Seems the tickets should be arriving since they have been using their little revenue generator since November 15th. Maybe they are waiting to make every speeders Christmas an even better one.

really effective; they got a sign up, then they semi hide it next to the bridge and then all slow down and speed up after;

surprised someone has not stolen the vehicle yet.

Granny, these vans aren't about making the road safer. Haven't you noticed how everyone speeds up right after the camera? If you want the road safer, they need to fund:

- More lanes
- Full interchanges or overpasses at all intersections
- Center median
- Night time roadway lighting

Not a few vans that cause people to slam on their brakes (difference of speed causes accidents). It doesn't even take a speeder to cause an accident at these things, since I frequently see non-speeders slam on their brakes.

I would also be concerned about them nabbing the wrong car. Did anyone think of this? It was just posted on another thread.

Yes everyone slams on the breaks, even when not speeding.

Speed up and slow down

Those vans aren't causing anyone to slam on thier breaks. There is no device in them that reaches out and causes speeders cars to suddenly slow down. It is idiots speeding and slamming on thier breaks to avoid a ticket. If they obey the posted speed limit in the first place all will be fine.

Wrong. I have been slowing down lately of my own accord (just to see what's it's like, you know?) and going about 65-70 rather than 80. Anyway, today I was going 65 and so was the car ahead of me. Well I had to slam on my brakes because he slammed on his; that's when I noticed the camera. So the van almost CAUSED an accident today.

BTW, I have never seen the signs in front of the camera, and have given up looking for them.
I am not too worried about a ticket from that van anyway, even when I am speeding, because you don't have to pay it anyway. I would hate to see an accident caused by a van that generates tickets that only people who like throwing their money away will pay. I would rather see more officers on the road, if anything.

In the technical sense, the van does not cause people to slam on the brakes. It contributes, because the known effect of putting those vans out is irrational reactions to drivers. So in a practical sense, yes, the vans cause non-speeders alike to slam on their brakes. And we're back to difference of speed increases danger. So why do people like to ignore the increase in danger?

I was flashed just before they made the "big anouncement" on the TV stations and everwhere else. I haven't seen anything yet.

I am expecting one to come soon. Hubby says that he was going with the speed of traffic, maybe 5 over, and got flashed along with a bunch of other people. This was before it was on the news/newspaper and he said that he didnt see any signs. He said that they put the suv in a spot where it is kind of unclear on the speed limit. Which comes to my question... When does the speed limit officially change? When you pass the sign or when you can see it? He says he was in the 65 zone but could see the 55 sign coming up. Also, he was driving a dodge magum, the windows are pretty small, he had his visor down, a hat on and sunglasses, plus he sits real low and puts his hand on top of the steering wheel (I know, he thinks he is a cool or something lol). This is just the way he normally drives. So my next question is...Is it true that if they cant see your face clearly they cant give you a ticket?

No offense here but with all these things obstructing his view, how can he possibly drive defensively? Sounds like an accident ready to happen.<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/unsure.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Unsure' align='absmiddle'>

I don't know how anyone can say that these radar Vans/SUVs are actually helpful to the safety of drivers on the 347. They've been putting them right at the new 55 speed limit sign at Casa Blanca, and I mean right after it, behind the sign. So for all of you that got flashed going 71 that is why, because the speed limit now drops right there to 55. There using these Vans as nothing more than a cash cow.

If they really wanted people to slow down they would put them out in the open so people can see them from far away. Then drivers would gradually slow down way ahead of them, rather then hiding them and making people slam on their brakes at the last minute.

I agree with Jason, the only way to make this road safer is to make it more like a interstate, I still don't know why we don't have barricades or a dividers.
