Lately I've been taking walks down Cobblestone Farms drive (between the fountain and the pool area). In the last week or so, I've seen several instances of graffiti on walls and sidewalks -- in addition to the (unfortunately) usual supply of cans and other trash on the ground.

Our community is so young. It saddens and disgusts me to see this. What can/should we be doing as a community?

Thats no good. I haven't seen that yet, but then again, I haven't left the house much lately

I know that we are bound by the light ordinance, but we need some better lighting in those areas. If it's too bright, then the hoodlums won't be so brave to tag stuff up (I'm guessing).

People in our neighborhood need to be more aware. Hear a noise out of place? check it out, call the authorities, etc.

I don't know if they already do it, but have the police randomly drive thru and check things out.

I know it's absolutly no excuse, but school does start again tomorrow. So hopefully the hoodlums will have too much homework to do to vandalize our stuff here soon.

I saw that chicken scratch on the wall between the pool and the South round-a-bout. Thats the problem with kids these days, no true motivation for outstanding artforms to beautify the
nieghborhood. I always see cops riding through checking it all out. So who gets to clean the paint off?
I also am suprised, with as many people I see walking the trail, nobody witnessed any of this or saw would-be delinquents roamming endlessly.

I bet someone DID see it happening. But you know, so many people just "don't want to get involved". it's sad

So how do we keep this from happening? I thought there was some individual on here that used to post great intentions of changing the nieghborhood.

Kimberly was her name. She took a lot of beating on here for taking a stand on our behalf. She was awesome at keeping those of us who can't make it to meetings informed of the goings on and such. Some people blamed her for the problems, and sometimes the attacks were personal, so she pulled her account. it's a shame. I do hope she stays on the board.

Part of the battle is that the elected HOA board (our neighbors) were constantly fighting with the management company about getting things done. The management company leaves a lot to be desired (and I too know this from trying to have one of my neighbors cited for something).

Holy cow! Sometime between Sunday afternoon and early Tuesday morning (when I have gone for a walk) there have two more pieces of graffiti painted on the common area walls. They are between the pool area and the southernmost roundabout. This is disgusting.

Admittedly, I know very little about our HOA. Is graffiti paint-over something that should be done by them? (Granted, in a fair world, the people who originally defaced the wall SHOULD be the ones taking care of this.) The longer the graffiti stays up, the more these people will think that it's okay and that no one cares if they do this.

have you called to report it to the management company? i think that's what we are supposed to do. Maybe call the police about it? sometimes they keep records of graffti because in it, taggers leave a "calling card".

I have seen this, too. It makes me sick. I didn't leave Vegas for this. Someone give me the OK and I will take my own paint brush down there. Everytime I see it I want to paint over it, but with my luck I will end up the one in trouble :o) I have an HOA board member across the street. I will ask about this tomorrow. I have no problem spending my time fixing this. I'll even buy the paint and keep painting until the hoodlems realize we aren't going to let it stay on the walls. We had a wall in Vegas that kept getting tagged and an old guy in our neighborhood would go out every day and paint over the same spot. Everyone thought he was crazy but after a few months it stopped getting tagged.

Please call the management company to ask them to paint over this. I called last week after the first time the walls were tagged and then again yesterday after they were tagged again on the night of the 14th. It has been 13 days since the first graffiti and the management company has not painted over it yet. Again last night for the 3rd time, January 15th, the wall was tagged now with foul language. The coordinator for our community has told me that they have had to wait for the police report, then they had to submit pictures to the paint contractor and wait for a bid. Then they had to email all of the board members to find out what they wanted the HOA to do. This to me is an unacceptable way to respond. Lepin and Renehan has a maintenance company that can respond immediately. I don't understand why they don't. Perhaps if more calls and or emails are sent expressing our concern the response will improve. You can call the property coordinator, Rebekkah at 480-345-0046 or email her at rebekkah@lepinandrenehan.com. The property manager is Linda Severs and she receives email at cobblestonefarms@lepinandrenehan.com.

Yesterday I did speak to a Maricopa Police officer and he told me that the best way to respond is to immediately paint over the graffiti just as luv the copa described of the Vegas property. He also told me that they will not take reports of the graffiti from homeowners, only from the management company as it is their property. I understand that they have made one report, but it would be to our advantage if they would continue to make police reports as the incidents occur. This would alert the police that more patrol is needed in our community.

Seriously? I would think there should be bylaws or whatever it's called for HOA's that already say what their responsibilities are. Why should we have to wait to see what the HOA wants to do. It should be obvious...paint over it. I am serious...give me a stinking paint brush. Graffiti drives me crazy. Nothing screams ghetto like tagged walls.

It looks like they got it all painted yesterday. My understanding is that the landscape company came and painted it and I am just so glad to see it gone. I would again encourage homeowners to contact the management company and either attend the board meetings or send in written concerns prior to the meetings so that those items can be addressed. The meeting for January was canceled but the next meeting is to be February 20 at 6:00pm.

I read so much about the lack of service and support we get from our management company, I also heard that the BOD meeting that was to be held on the 16th was cancelled, does anyone understand why the BOD would be cancelled. I am very upset about the lack of overseeding the winter grass when it shows up in our 2008 budget as one of the reasons our fees went up. Who or what is being done to represent the best interest of our community, I would like to be involved just don't know where to start.

To start chipping away at the almighty management company will require several signatures from the residents and some legal back-up. And while you are at it find out why we have to pay twice for cable.

So, we need a start a petition, hire a lawyer and then....is it not the Board of Directors job to be the voice of the community; to air our grievances...I am just asking, I don't usually involve myself in politics and maybe thats whats wrong, to many guys like me that rather turn the other cheek...well I am mad as hell...and I am not going to take it any more....

I don't think the Board of Directors knew what they were getting themselves into when they aggressively placed themselves in the seats they sit in. Seems like a popularity contest of almost all the people who just happen to live on the same street. Now that they are in office and helping try to make the community a better place to enjoy; the management company sets up several blocks for them to try and hurdle without resistence. Hypothetically what you are speaking of doing makes perfect sense, only one has to realize that knocking on doors out
here is a major taboo. So now you are limited to having people sign the petition at the parks, walkways, pool, and at the lemonade stand( if the kids let you do it for free). What lawyer is going to accept the almost immpossible, taking down the management company, who has set guidelines and rules that we signed for when most of us purchased our homes. I am all for it and support you in your endevors; always liked the underdog...
