Alert | Obviously Senita is not the only community in town battling the weed situation. I just read Maricopa Meadows forum and they are having a community clean-up and then bbq. You can read the conversation here: http://www.85239.com/FORUM/tabid/60/forumid/4/postid/104275/view/topic/Default.aspx By no means am I suggesting we have one, but I was wondering what Senita's home owners would do if they were asked to volunteer for a clean up? I would personally volunteer - what would you do?

Alert | I think we should see how things look after 14 days (from the 14 day notices) is up. Personally, I would enjoy any kind of event that brings neighbors together. I have gotten to know the 6 residents around us, and it makes life so much better. We watch each other's house, have bbq's together, and borrow a cup of sugar every now and then.

Alert | | i want to see what our HOA can do for us this year. Last year was aweful with the tumbleweeds growing out of the cracks in peoples driveways. But I have it good on my street. There are only 2 crappy houses in either direstion. 1 is the first house past Pulte Model homes.... and the 2nd is on Leland where a house went into foreclosure recently (Pulte employee...).

Alert | | I agree, I want to see the "New HOA" enforcement. Btw, why can't we use the fees toward the volunteers who will need supplies to do the clean (should there be one).

Alert | | It would be nice if it was mandatory to spray pre-emergent at least once a year on your front yard to keep the weeds down. I wonder if that can be put into the CC&R's? I also wonder if all 88 houses that will get their front yards cleaned in the next 14 days will have pre-emergent sprayed by the clean up company after the weeds are picked so the problem gets solved for a little while?

Alert | | I dont' see how there are only 88 homes out of complance on weeds? Maybe my counting is just bad. There were two families near my house out pulling and spraying weeds this morning, a very positive sign. | | Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

Alert | | Maricopa Meadows has far more problems with weeds than we do. Even some of their commons areas are a mess, and even more dire is that they are out of money. The cleanup they are trying to organize is an act of desperation. They don't have other options. Drive over there and take a gander, then come back home and appreciate what a great job our landscapers and most of our homeowners are doing. You know what they say... the weeds are always greener... | | Yes, that's really my name

Alert | That's what I had heard too. Basically Maricopa Meadows can no longer afford to clean the lots of vacatn homes, so the residents are doing it to protect their own property values. Luckily, I think Senita has a strong financial foundation, with a regular flow of assests coming in. I don't think we're quite to this point yet. -Graham

Alert | We had our front yard cleaned and sprayed two weeks ago. Then DH sprayed again last week. The weeds are back. I am at my wit's end.
This weekend we had to chop up and remove numerous tumbleweeds between our house and the foreclosed upon neighbor's home. I just can't get it up to clean other people's messes when my efforts to tame my own yard are proving futile. | | Poster formerly known as Sassafrass.

Alert | | I agree Boymaker. We can't seem to find anything that actually kills them. I have just gotten used to hitting the front yard daily to pull them. We didn't move into out house until July, but were the houses that have the bad weed problems this year the same as last year? Even if I had let our yard go, I don't think that our weeds would be 1-2 feet high. I can't believe how big some of them are! Again, kudos to those working to keep it under control. | | Yes, that's really my name

Alert | Hello, maybe you aren't putting the weed killer / pre-emergent on thick enough? Are you using weed killer or pre-emergent? Pre-emergent is supposed to keep them from growing. I sprayed my yard and it has stayed pretty weed free. I also sprayed my neighbor's house (foreclosure) and it hasn't sprouted any new weeds recently. I use the concentrated stuff that you have to add water to. Maybe just try putting it on a little thicker - that would be my advice. Spraying is much easier than having to pick them. Good luck.

Alert | It's also recommended that you spray the weeds while it is warm...ie, not just before sundown. I used some roundup not too long ago and it didn't do well (I sprayed just before sundown). I heard this and tryed again a week later at noon, and BAM..all gone.
