This may be old news to some, but Ruby Tuesdays has backed out according to an article in today's Communicator.

Anyone know what is going into this complex now? Seems like all the original tenants have backed out....are the buildings just going to be empty?

I knew that was going to happen...I believe they are are either filing bankruptcy or going out of business completely-I read it about a month ago. I posted it somewhere....

LeonPotter & Stinkerbell,

I can't find anything on the Internet about that.  Can you provide sources for your information.  I would like to know whether Ruby Tuesday's failure to follow through was the result of a franchisee pull-out, or an overall reduction in expansion plans by the company.

Geez..we can't  seem to catch a break!  Anyway....I thought that originally, it was goint o be either a Chili's or a Ruby Tuesday...I would much prefer a Chili's and I think  a Chili's would do well here. I wonder if there is a possibility of the City looking into negotiating with them again?

It was on my AOL start up page -about a month ago- stating all the chain buisness that are having hard times: Home Depot, Ruby Tuedays, Linens and Things and a few other BIG corps that OVER built in areas and now have to cose or go belly up all together. (Think Krispy Kreme)

SO NO I cannot pull that up and wouldnt even kow where to start to find this info. Sorry

Well CR, if I had to guess, I'd say they are restructuring if this ( finance.yahoo.com/echarts  has anything to do with it....

Don't be surprised if that plot of land stays that way for a very long time. So much of the infrastructure was completed before everybody backed out. Therefore, any future development will most likely be required to rip out all of that infrastructure in addition to laying down the infrastructure to support the new build. Unless the next developer can integrate what has already been put down, it may be a while.

From a reliable source received yesterday.

Ruby Tuesday's has approved permits and are waiting the selection of their contractor.

I love RED ROBIN.  But Ruby Tuesday is better than the 3 alternatives we already have.

Can I ask how we know this source is reliable?  I would really like to see Ruby Tuesdays come to the copa but I am a bit gun shy due to everyone pulling out lately.

Okay I plead the 5th on the "reliability" of the source but I hope that who it came from would not lie about a restaurant coming or not. I also contacted Ruby Tuesday and am awaiting a response. If I get one I will post it.

I also asked about the WalMart and Home Depot and here is the response, take it for what it is worth.

Walmart is waiting for the master developer to finish both onsite and offsite improvements:  electrical, roads, signals, water and sewer
before they pull the permit for construction.  I have met with them many times and they are very comitted to Maricopa.

Home Depot has met several times with staff to review our permitting and inspection processes.

I hope your source is right, but after reading home depots first quarter earnings i don't think they will be opening any stores soon.

With walmart having success lately i would believe they will be here before long. Even if you don't like walmart that's a good thing, I have travelled across the country a few times in the last few years and i have never seen a newer walmart store that doesn't have a few other anchor retailers in the shopping center with the walmart. Petco, Petsmart, Restaurants, building supply stores, musical instrument stores, and many other types of retailers seem to nestle in with walmart to get in on the high draw of the walmart store.

More stores would be a plus and then maybe I can go to Fry's and not wait 45 min in the check out :-)
